We had breakfast here in January 2013. The food includes hot options - bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and saute potatoes. The cold options include sliced cheese, cold meats, various breads, pastries, fruit and yoghurt.

The food was reasonable though not luxurious, but the character interaction was superb. Characters made just as much fuss of those of us without children, and great fun was had by all.

A special mention has to go to Mickey, who noticed that our table had been missed and made a point of coming back to us.

I wouldn't normally do this if staying onsite - partly because breakfast is already included in the price of the onsite hotels, and partly because I like to use EMH and get into the park while it's quiet. But it is an excellent way to get character interaction without braving the scrums you sometimes see in the parks.

It's been a few years since we ate here, but our friends and their four children loved their evening here in February 2011. Captain Hook was the star of the show, stealing their autograph books and running round the restaurant.

It's worth noting that you don't have to have the set menu to have a character meal here. If your party includes picky eaters or you're on a budget, why not just split a pizza?

However, it is somewhere it pays to linger, because the characters will probably come round several times in an evening. Find out what time they are due, and book for about 10 minutes earlier so you're in your seats and have your meal ordered.

Definitely one to pre-book. Walk-ups are often turned away in the evening as it's so popular.

We were unfortunately a little disappointed with our experience at Cafe Mickey. We had not long arrived in DLP and were excited for our trip, but we were sat at a table right near the entrance, so it was very cold, our waiter was very rushed, our food came out cold, and our bill arrived before we'd even decided if we wanted dessert! Because we were rushed, we didn't get much character time. It was the most expensive meal of our trip, and I don't think we'd return again for dinner. Breakfast, on a previous trip however, was great, and I'd definitely just pay the supplement for breakfast in future, and have dinner elsewhere!
