Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey is the signature ride of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter area of the theme park, and takes riders through scenes and environments in and around Hogwarts Castle from the various books and films of the Harry Potter series.
Mark Woodbury, president of Universal Creative, described the ride as an in-depth look at the world of Harry Potter, which utilizes never before seen technology which transforms "the theme park experience as you know it".
Enter through the towering castle gates and make your way down the familiar passageways and corridors of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. You’ll visit iconic locations such as Dumbledore’s office, the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom, the Gryffindor™ common room, the Room of Requirement and more.
Then get ready to soar above the castle grounds as you join Harry Potter and his friends on an unforgettably thrilling adventure, coming face-to-face with an array of magical creatures!
This amazing new attraction uses groundbreaking, state-of-the-art technology (and a little magic) to create a one of a kind ride experience.
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey utilizes KUKA robocoaster technology, which allows the seats to pivot while being held above the track by a robotic arm
Guests strolling through Hogwarts castle will encounter the house points hourglasses, featured in the Harry Potter films. The hourglasses record the points earned or lost by members of the four Hogwarts houses throughout the school year – scarlet represents Gryffindor, blue represents Ravenclaw, green represents Slytherin and yellow represents Hufflepuff.
Ride Opened: 18th June 2010
All times are GMT +1. The time now is 05:33 AM.
The queue line itself is a great experience, a walk through the castle and a talk with Dumbledore and Harry, Ron and Hermione using amazing technology to project them in front of you!
The gift shop at the end can be slightly crowded as can the locker part at the beginning to stow away your valuables!
I am fine on coasters, simpsons, spiderman etc, this for some reason did make me white-out, I spoke with a ride op and I did go on again, heres a tip.
If you feel spun out on the initial flight through the floo network, take a deep breath, close you eyes and open again ten seconds later, youll be in a screen but facing forwards, if this is makig it worse, close them again or look at you grab bars, until you feel yourself move backwards or quickly sideways into the next scene!
I managed to get round by closing my eyes when we hit the screens, and opening them during the scenic elements.
there is a lot of movement, no upside down, but you do go onto you back with you legs dangling a few times!
The simulation isn't as dramatic as the Simpsons, but there is far more general movement. Some people have compained they feel sick after the ride, but we didnt see anyone ill the 3 times we rode. If you are ok with Spiderman you will have no problems with this ride. Hey its a simulator...just close your eyes!
