Walt Disney World provides a large variety of complimentary transport methods. The most visible and well known form of water transport are the Ferry Boats that cross the Seven Seas Lagoon from the TTC (Transport and Ticket Center) to the Magic Kingdom. But there are also a variety of other water craft that transport guests from the resorts to various parks.
One of the most magical WDW memories my family have is an early morning crossing of the Seven Seas Lagoon from the Wilderness Lodge to the Magic Kingdom. The sun had risen only a short time before and a band of mist hung over the lake. We glided across the lagoon breaking through the band of mist and the view of the Magic Kingdom getting brighter in the early light as we got closer and closer was breaktaking.
Motor Launches
Motor Launches provide a water transportation service between the Magic Kingdom and several resorts, each service is denoted by a flag colour (Gold, Blue and Red)
Gold Flag motor launches sail the Seven Seas Lagoon from the Magic Kingdom to the Grand Floridian on to the Polynesian and then back to the Magic Kingdom. This service typically runs from an hour before park opening to 45 minutes after the Magic Kingdom closes.
Blue Flag motor launches on Bay Lake run a sevice between the Contemporary Resort, Wilderness Lodge and Ft. Wilderness and begin running at 6:45am daily. The service runs clockwise until 3pm and then reverses direction, running until aprox.11:30pm.
Red Flag boat service runs a return sailing from the Wilderness Lodge to the Magic Kingdom and begins running each day around one hour before park opening and stops running approximately 1 hour after the Magic Kingdom closes. This service uses both Motor Launches and Motor Cruisers. Red Flag boats do operate for Extra Magic Hour Mornings and also for evening Extra Magic Hours.
If you want to go to the Grand Floridian /Polynesian from the Wilderness Lodge, Contemporary Resort or Fort Wilderness by boat, you will have to go to the Magic Kingdom and then get the
Gold flag service. There is no service that goes directly from the Contemporary resort to the Magic Kingdom, Grand Floridian or Polynesian resorts.
For
all motor launches, strollers and wheel chairs must be folded prior to boarding and ECVs cannot be accommodated on motor launches under any circumstances.
Motor Cruisers
Motor Cruisers sail from the Magic Kingdom on the Seven Seas Lagoon through the water bridge channel to Bay Lake and Fort Wilderness Campground and the Wilderness Lodge.
The
Green Flag service sails from the Fort Wilderness Campground to the Magic Kingdom running from approximately one hour before park opening to approximately one hour after the Magic Kingdom closes.
The
Red Flag service sails from the Wilderness Lodge to the Magic Kingdom and begins running each day approximately one hour before park opening and stops running approximately one hour after the Magic Kingdom closes.
Red and Green Flag boats operate around the Extra Magic Hour Mornings and also for evening Extra Magic Hours and alter their start and finishing times accordingly.
ECVs can be accommodated on motor cruisers unless the water levels are low.
Friendships
Friendships sail Crescent Lake between Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios, with landings at the BoardWalk, Yacht & Beach Club and also at the Swan and Dolphin Resorts.
They also sail across the World Pavillion lake within Epcot. Two Friendships sail on two separate crossings; one sailing between landings near Canada and Morocco, while the other one sails between Mexico and Germany.
Friendships are wheelchair and pushchair accessible when water levels are normal.
