Wanyama Safari Resort Tour at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge

Wanyama Safari and Dinner is exclusively for Guests staying at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas. The Wanyama Safari and Dinner is offered in the afternoon seven days a week, subject to availability.

Join the group of adventurers, no more than 12 Guests per excursion (ages 8 and up, please), in the lounge area at Jiko–The Cooking Place, and embark on an adventure of a true African afternoon safari drive. Get up-close to the animals and end the event with a multi-course meal served family style at Jiko - The Cooking Place.

This safari is an opportunity to spend time with members from the Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge animal programs team. Learn about the natural history and management of the animal collection at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. Enjoy incredible photo opportunities of the animals and architecture of Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge that can only be experienced from the perspective on the savanna.

Dinner at Jiko – The Cooking Place

After the safari, return to Jiko in Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge for a savory dinner. The menu begins with traditional African dips, breads and appetizers. The entrees include vegan, vegetarian and meat-based dishes, like oak roasted filet of beef with mac & cheese and chermoula roasted chicken. The meal ends with choices from the sweet dessert platter.

The Wanyama Safari and Dinner can only be booked by the Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge itinerary planning office or the Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge Club Concierge at (407) 938-4755 (Guests under age 18 must have parent or guardian permission to call.

The tour includes a 60 to 90 minute tour of the savannahs surrounding both Jambo house and Kidani Village. The private guided tour on a specially designed vehicle allows both standing and sitting room for all 11 guests with one cast member driving and one hosting the tour and answering all your questions.

The tour allows you to get up close and personal with many of the savannah animals with the giraffes being the most interested in guests, sometimes poking their head in to the open vehicle carrying guests. The guided tour, which provides the very best views of the savannah animals, also gives you a great chance to learn about how Disney care for the animals and some interesting facts such as how the train the animals to come inside incase of an extreme weather warning.


Following the guided tour you are dropped off outside Jambo house for a 'family meal' at the Signature restaurant "Jiko". The meal includes soft drinks and wine in the price and you can ask for more of anything on the menu also at no extra cost. The food is similar to what is served on the menu at the restaurant however you don't just get one choice of each course they serve enough for everyone to have a portion of everything! The icing on the cake is that the head chef at Jiko comes to the table before each course to introduce the food your eating, where it originated from and its inspiration.

It is highly recommended that you book well in advance of your preferred date as the tour tends to be very popular, during low season they will only run the tour with 4 or more people.
