Hi we have all recently noticed anything to do with 'MGM' is refered to as Disney Studio's and not MGM Studios. We were just wondering if it had changed it names? Anyone have any ideas???

it was something to do with the original contract and they could only use the name for a certain period of time. That is why they now call it Disney Studios although the make up of the park has not changed:cool2: :cool2: :cool2:

hey rach
basically it used to be MGM studios, before disney bought it out. they kept the name for a while and then tried to 'disneyfy' it by subtly changing it on the website and on promotional videos etc to 'disney studios'. there are still signs around the park saying 'mgm', but i think disney are trying to phase that out. it'll always be mgm to me!!

Disney Studios conjures up some sort of art room image in my mind. I think MGM sounds far better, and that's what it'll always be to me :thumbs-up

Yeah, this is what I understood. They have a licence to use the name for a period of time, which I thought ended in January this year. they were hoping the link to the historic MGM brand would buy them custom that Universal get from their name.
I think Disney realised this doesn't really work and now value themselves as a brand more than MGM which, given where the Studios are, makes much more sense to me.
