:confused2  Hi Everybody. I have friends travelling to Orlando, visiting all the parks, in July. Their eldest daughter has Downs. Do Disney make any special provision for kids with this disability? Any tips would be much appreciated - it is their first visit and not sure what to expect. Cheers!

Hi and welcome.
I can't answer your question regarding a Downs child but I have 2 sons with lspecial needs and they have always been treated as well as any other child.
I know you can get a guest assistance card, although it won't get you on the rides any faster, I beleive it does allow you to wait in a different line( or something like that-not really sure just exactly how it works).
There is a thread on here for people needing advice on disabilities/special needs.
go to community and chat and it's at the top of the page
hope this helps

Thanks Lin - Frantic Frog is a much better user-name than mine. I am a bit of a techno-phobe!

I am not really sure to be honest - it might help if you let us know what you are thinking off, and then maybe we can tell you if that's likely. Generally special help is tailored to the needs of teh child - so a younger child may need to use a pushchair as it it was a wheelchair, and that can be arranged, or an autistic child may need to be able to wait for rides in a different place, and that can be arranged, but really, it depends on what the actual need is.
I'm going to move this over to our Special Needs forum where you can get some more specialist advice.
Hi Sharon,
I don't know of any special provisions available for Downs children, but when we took my brother (35 and Downs) last November, the treatment he got from CM's in all of the parks was amazing! He got autograghs from all his favourite Characters and quite often got preferential treatment! His most favourite of all was Spiderman, who really went out of his way to make Colin feel special and told him all about making his new film etc. We were really impressed with the service and attention that he received every where we went and he absolutely loved it.

:) Thanks for that Sue - hoping CMs will make Lauren feel special. See that you are going to my second favourite place in the world - Hong Kong. Havn't been for about 7 years but would love to go again. Say hello to Stanley Market and Granville Road for me - if they're still there!:spin:
