Hi Guys,
After looking around the internet it seems to me that Disney gate tickets are alot cheaper than prebooking in the uk.
Why would anyone want to do this?
Am i missing something?
Also can you please tell me exactly what the Fast Pass is?
Do you pay more for it?
One last thing!
If i buy a 7 day ticket, are the extra parks that are included (water parks etc) something i can do after ive used up the 7 days or do i have to include this in the 7 days?

Sorry to be so dense :erm:
Thanks
Amanda

Hi there

It is my understanding that a 7 day Disney Ticket is a classed as a Premium Ticket and not a basic ticket for one park on one day. This ticket allows you to hop from park to park if you want on the same day. It also includes the water parks and there are 2 extra days tagged on for you to visit those. Although you have in effect 9 days worth of parks inc water parks to use up you have to use all the days within a 14 day period from first day used.

Hi Amanda:spin:

Dont forget that normally Tax has to be added to the price of tickets at the gate(s) its on the region of 13% we have always found that you do save by pre buying in the UK.
Fast passes allow you to return to a ride at a specific time indicated on your fast pass ticket "its a legal !!! form of queue jumping really" - you can only have 1 fast pass each running at any one time. It does allow you to do something else while you wait to return to the attraction - No there is no extra charge for it.
A 7 day ticket will be valid for 14 days once that is up it expires (you can upgrade the ticket so that it never expires however this cost's you extra depending on the type of ticket for 5 day think its $35 and 7 day $50 approx dont forget to add tax as well to that you can only upgrade in the USA.
You can use the water park part of your ticket whenever you like during that 14 days.

Disney tickets bought in UK are generally exclusive to UK Guest's, dont forget you can hop between the parks on one days entry ticket so you could visit AK/MGM/MK & if you have enough stamina Epcot in one day and only use 1 entry off your ticket (unfortunately it doesnt include the water parks)

Hope that helps

There are a lot of different tickets on offer - make sure you are comparing like with like. the 14 day Ultimate ticket which is on offer in the UK is much cheaper than paying for 14 day in the US (well it was when I checked in Feb.) (I have just double checked - you can only buy a 10 day pass in the US, so you would have to buy a 10 day and a 4 day, and with no hopping or parks it would be $430!

If you only want 5 or 7 days, and don't want water parks or hopping, then you may find a basic MYW ticket bought in the USA is a better buy, but it really depends on exactly what you need, and the exchange rate at the time.

If you buy a ticket which includes water parks (these are not included in the basic MYW ticket) then these are things you can do on other days.

the UK 7 day premium tickets, lets you visit the 4 main parks on any 7 days out of 14, PLUS within those 14 days you can make 6 visits to water parks or Disney Quest. You can do those visits on teh same day you visit a main park, or on a different day - so you could get 13 days out of the pass.
That costs £ 157

for £ 168 (so an extra £11) you can visit any of the parks for 14 full days - so you could go to a main park and a water park every single day for 14 days. For me, the extra £11 is well worth it for that flexiblity.

£168 is $318

a 7 day magic your way ticket is $217.26 - this gives you no water parks and no hopping -so one main park per day and nothing else.
If you want to hop, that costs $40+tax, and if you want to visit water parks that costs an extra $50+tax - so a ticket that gives you the same as the 7 day ticket in the UK, would cost $320 which is MORE than the 14 day premium pass.

If you don't want to hop, and you aren't going to visit Water Parks, then the US tickets are cheaper, but if you want these extras, then you are better off buying a ticket in the UK.

Fast Pass is a 'reservation' for a ride - and it's free

Amanda,

I think you might not be looking at like for like tickets. Gate prices at Disney WILL be dearer than what you can pay for them.

There a numerous options with the Disney tickets, hop - no hop, expire - non-expire, water park - no water parks, make sure you compare the exact same tickets after you have decided what you want to do. Why not look at www.park-tickets.com, they sell every combination available.

thanks, you really are a mine of information - what a great site.
I thin k ill go for the 7 days without water parks, as i have a 2 and 4 yr old who might get too much excitement and id like to do some shopping too!

I was wondering if the tickets are transferable as my hubby might not want to do all the days, and im sure my mum would like to go atleast once.

Are the tickets strictly non transferable, - and is this actaully checked ie photo id, or just stated as a principle.

Thanks
Amanda

Amanda - at each gate you have to put your ticket in and have your finger scanned, so the tickets are definitely not transferrable - you must have one ticket for each person.

There is also a chance of being asked for ID to match the signature on the back of the ticket, although this doesn't happen frequently.

A 7 day ticket with no hopping is $217, a 10 day ticket with no hopping is $223 - can I suggest that you look at the 10 day ticket, for an extra $6 you get 4 more park days - You probably won't want to spend 10 full days in the parks, but what it will mean is that you have a lot more flexiblity - you can do half days in the parks, or just an evening if you want too. We find that with younger kids, we can't do full park days, we are much happier if we visit the parks for shorter bursts but more often. So we might get to the park early and leave after lunch, or we might have a lazy morning and head to the parks around 3 and stay to see the fireworks.

We have found the extra park days are invaluable and well worth the $6 each.

It also means that if you are having a bad day (kids are tired etc), then you can just cut your losses and leave the park, without worrying that you are losing a park day that you can't afford to lose.

Your husbands ticket will have his fingerprint on it, if your mum tried to use it, her fingerprint wouldn't match - sometimes they just wave you in, and sometimes they ask for id. I wouldn't like to try it on a day they ask for id - would be rather embarrasing....

A 1 day single park entry pass is $67 or £36.

Hi Amanda

Just looking at attraction tickets site and found the following

7 day Premium (special offer 7 for the price of 5) = £157 Adult price

14 day ultimate = £168 Adult

So for an extra £11 you have a whole other week to play with.

The ultimate ticket is great (I used it last year) you can come and go as you please to the whole Disney experience. We found it useful if we got tired as we found we could leave the park and not feel like we had to stay as we only had a week or that we had paid on the gate and had to get our moneys worth.

Also we were there in September and Wishes (the firework show) and Spectro (the illuminated parade) were not on every night. What this meant for us was not having to be in the park all day then all night to see the shows. In fact I don't even think we were in MK that day - we just went there in the evening.

I would totally recommend the ultimate for those who are going to be going to every park.

The tickets are not transferable. If your mum wanted to go in she would have to decide which park she wanted to go to and pay on the gate. This would mean she pays for one park and can only visit one park. For me that would mean staying all day to get your moneys worth!! Maybe that's just me!!!

Disney ticket buying is a bit of a minefield though so make sure you read all the available info and check out all the ticket sellers websites for the best deal.

Good luck!
