Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has bought items like toys in Florida and shipped them back to UK?

Frances, We did this one year and the cost was incredible !
The item in question cost us $90 and the postage was $75 !

Ted

All depends on size and price I guess

Hiya

i prob would not bother either.

A friend and i (who used to live in the US) used to make up care packages and one year we spent a fortune on each other not considering postage and it was like another $90 to get the thing over to me so prob not worth it unless the saving on the toy is MASSIVE!

You would maybe get better rates for shipping if you bought online from a US site.

You are also more likely to get stung with customs charges if you post your items home. ;)

Last October I ordered a pile of toys online from Amazon.com because I saved a fortune in their sale. I had them sent to our hotel onsite at Disney. I went out with light luggage and bought the toys back on the plane with me. It was a cheap Christmas :-)

:omg: wow you're organised !

I got stung with some big Customs bills when ordering cheap things off US sites...in the end I don't think I saved any money

I think my husband would say not so much organised as a shopaholic! However as we were onsite without a car these toys were the only shopping we did really and they were sooooo cheap that they were below the limit of the three of us combined. As far as sending for things from the states by post I tend to stick to kids clothes so that even if I end up paying duty I don't get stung for VAT . Although I have on occasion had to pay a 'handling' fee to the delivery company which made me really mad :mad2:
