View Full Version : Anyone live near Rochester in Kent?
Hi everyone,
We have booked to spend 6 days at the end of August at the Haven Holiday Park at Allhallows near Rochester and I am interested in finding any things that we could do in the area. We have 3 daughters aged 4,6 and 9. I know about Chatham Dockyard but I doubt the girls would be interested in that. I know we won't be near a beach so I just need some ideas for fun things to do as I don't want to spend the whole time in the holiday park.
Also if you live locally, where would the closest supermarket and cinema be??
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me, I don't know Kent at all.

you didn't get your way with Center Parcs then Nicola!!! I've heard that's a nice part of the world so they'll be lots to do around and about! Perhaps we've both just had bad experiences, maybe this park will be better!!
Have a really good holiday !!

Hi ya, I live just down the road in Chatham so what would you like to know? There is a little beach at that park you mention, but if you fancy a proper beach you could drive down to Dymchurch for a day.
There is a lovely beach there and a small funfair as well.

Hi,for a large supermarket tesco/ morrisons and cinema you will pos have to come into Strood aprox 9 miles away,Diggerland is also on the same site as cinema,if you like castles theres Rochester and Upnor castle
Another vote for Diggerland, I know you have 3 girls but they will love it.

Definitely Diggerland! Shaun took our two DDs there a couple of years back and they had a brilliant time! Don't know if you've been to Bluewater before but that's not far and there's a reasonable ice rink in Gillingham if you need an indoor activity.
Another option beachwise is Broadstairs - probably 30/40 mins away from Rochester. There's a few rides on the beach, plus trampolines and I think donkeys - very traditional!

I have stayed at Allhallows Holiday Park hundreds and I mean hundreds of times...... I first went there when I was 6months old and continued going.....every weekend.........until I was in my late teens!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately not Vicky, the £615 it was going to cost at Centerparcs for the weekend was just too much as we have just paid out a load for a new cambelt for my car! Instead we got 6 nights for the price of 3 at Allhallows Haven for half the price and I was able to use £150 of Tesco Deals vouchers so it was a bit of a bargain!
Thanks everyone for all the advice, the beach options sound lovely and Diggerland sounds fun, my youngest is a budding builder so it would probably be perfect.
So glad I posted as I am feeling much less worried about the whole thing now...thanks Kent dibbers!!

You are welcome, going off to read your trippies now!
Good luck with the trippies Lesley, they are from April '05, I never quite got round to doing the ones from this year - I think I just found 3 weeks worth too daunting!!
