We're a group of 10 - 2 families consisting of; my sis, bil their DD 9 & DS 8 and me, DH, DD 7, DSs 4, 2 & 1
We were going to do DC on different days so my 3 boys wouldn't come but we're now thinking, if its suitable, we'd all go together (I want to snorkel but hubby doesn't & neither does my bil so makes sense for me & my sis to do these things together) Would you recommend DC with 3 young boys in tow?
How does the dolphin swim work? Will all 6 of us go in together? Will my bil (not swimming) be able to stay close by with my 3 DSs? How long roughly does it last?
I've been on the website & I believe you don't get tickets, you just check-in on arrival. It says we need photo ID, is that all 10 of us or just the person its booked under (I'll have my photocard driving licence as will hubby but don't want to have to carry 10 passports around with us!)
Will we need to take our own towels or do they provide them?
Are the prescription masks free?
Anything else you think worth mentioning? :d:

It gets expensive taking the little ones but it would make it easier for you with help and yeh if you checkin all together then you will be in the same group when we were there last week there was a family of 8 all doing the swim together you may get another 2 in your party. I didnt do the swim but was on the beack close to my family and got pics and video of them but dont know if this applies to all swims.
In my families party there was a dad swimming on his own and his 2 little sons sat ont he beach withthe mum and he asked if the kids could have a photo with the dolphin afterwards and they were allowed as a family to have their picture taken all together
Towels are provided free as if everything else
prescription goggles are free to use you juts have to leave your name and if you dont return it to a designated point then your credit card will be charged $200
Think i have covered everything i know if there is anything else just ask

Have never been myself but its booked for this Sept. I wouldn't take all the kids. Its expensive and someone will need to look after them all - esp the young ones which will take away from all the things you can do on the day.

To all go will only be an extra £85 for my 4 year old DS (I believe the 1 & 2 year olds are free???) - we'd be taking our DD anyway so the only extra, in terms of cost, would be the 4 yo
My bil would have the 3 boys while we do the dolphin swim and my hubby is happy to look after the children while me & my sister go off and do the snorkelling as he doesn't want to do that anyway (that's the reason I'd like us to all go together as our hubby's don't want to snorkel so by going together me & my sis don't have to 'go it alone' iyswim)
Thanks Tiggerfan, that's a great help & think you covered everything :thumbs-up
Thanks G, T & S, they were helpful, although only 2 were 2006 :d:

Thanks for that :)
Hubby would much rather be building sandcastles with the kids than snorkeling with me but he really does want to do the dolphin swim so I think going altogther will be best. I was just worried there wouldn't be enough to keep the young one's amused for the day
We're doing it for the first time this year, both I and DD don't swim but the Dibbers assured us we will love it. I'm really looking forward to it.

Me too, it looks fab in the clips on their website, its something I didn't think I'd ever get to do :spin:
My DD & DS have swimming lessons on a Monday & DD has told her instructor she has to be able to swim by February ready for it, its really given her something to focus on as she's so excited about it :d:

Hello,
We went for the 1st time to Disney in April, we done Discovery Cove a week after we arrived, it was a fantastic day.
There were 9 of us altogether but only 7 done the dolphin swim my sister-in-law's husband and youngest (3yrs )who was too young still had a great time they were close on the beach and able to watch us.There was just us in our group so that was nice.
It is a great day, everything provided ,towels ,suncream, masks, snorkles (which you get to keep ) and the food was really nice-great breakfast and wonderful choice for lunch + all snacks and drinks (kids thought it was great not used to anything like that here ).
Only bit of advice I would give is if you are going when it is really hot ( it was very hot in April ) then make sure you have some sort of shoes for in the water ( some places very slippery and rough ) and walking on the sand (it was so hot the sand was almost unbearably to walk on and can burn the bottom of your feet )
It's a must do experience if at all possible ( I know it's expensive but really well worth it )
Hope everyone has a great time there
Can't wait to get a new countdown, have to go back and do all the things we just didn't get around to doing ;)

Fantastic day but children have to be over 6 to do the dolphin swim. The interaction with the dolphins is 8 people at a time, so if you are in a party of say 3, you will be put with other families/couples.
I think it is an expensive day out tho, unless you do the dolphin swim then it is worth every penny!!! (It may have changed since we done it, but I am sure there has to be at least 1 person doing the dolphin swim, but I stand to be corrected!!)

Thank you both :thumbs-up
There's going to be 6 of us doing the swim & 1 adult with 3 little ones watching :confused2 It is a lot of money if not doing the swim (£85 for my 4 yo DS) but we'd much rather go as one big group than do 2 seperate days there in small groups. It also free's up a day for us to do something else
Great tip re. the pool shoes Disneyfever :thumbs-up I managed to get my eldest DS some in the sales but am off to Dawlish next week and I know the beach shop sells them there so I'm going to get us all some then. My 2 yo DS is different to most children his age - he doesn't like having his clothes off, doesn't like sand. doesn't like swimming, doesn't like playing much, he prefers to sit & watch everything so he'll definitely need the pool shoes as he'll just refuse to walk if he doesn't have anything on his feet :d:

Took my two at 7 and 6. They thought it was superb, which it is.
