I am taking my beloved wife to New York to celebrate her graduating from Uni, and we are flying into JFK. What is the easiest way to get from the airport to our hotel in Greenwich Village?

You can take a taxi or use the minibuses. Just turn up at the desk, give them your destination hotel and then after about 20mins you head out of JFK with other travellers and get dropped off one at a time. You pay the driver plus tip. Costs a lot less than a taxi.

There is a taxi rank outside the terminal that directs you to a yellow taxi for a set rate of $45. You can get some reasonable deals on limo transfers as well ;)

Have a look on the JFK internet site. There are quite a few limo hire services you can book direct from the site. We booked a car to get us to Newark for our return journey, this way.

We are going to New York soon, it's our first visit, and I am very much looking forward to getting into a New York Yellow Cab, it will feel like we have really arrived.

For Limo qoutes I looked here

I filled in the form and then quotes were sent to me via email

Thanks for the help guys and gals, again it's great to be on here. Just a quickie though, I know that the taxis operate a flat $45 rate from JFK to Manhattan plus tolls and tip, I take it that this is to anywhere on Manhattan for that fee?

Same advice applies for Newark. we used Super Shuttle from there. The driver came into the terminal to collect us. The driving was wild, it was like being on Test Track with mega amounts of traffic!!!

We used Supershuttle in Feb 05 and were extremely disappointed with the service. Our flight was on time, our baggage was unloaded very quickly and we went through customs in record time. We then had to wait for over an hour for our supershuttle bus (from a conversation I earwigged on at the desk, I think there had been a muck-up somewhere along the line, but they didn't want to admit it). Finally our driver turned up and it took us 2 further hours before we finally got dropped at our hotel, during which time he spent most of it talking on his mobile phone - and it wasn't hands free. It was our first trip (we can't wait to go back by the way) and I didn't realise until too late that we had driven past the road our hotel was in at least twice dropping off other passengers! Next time we would definitely get a yellow cab, a little more expensive, but you dont spend your first three hours in NY either at the airport or trying to get to your hotel.

Newark has a rail link from the terminal building direct to Manhatten as well as a shuttle coach service. I used both-no problems with either.
