Having just enjoyed a weekend in Bristol, we would like to have another city break this autumn. Do any of you have any suggestions? We don't need nightlife, but like some interesting things to see, and places to visit.
I would like York, but it is only a 30 minute drive away!

Did you visit Bath whilst in Bristol. Worth a visit in its own right plenty to do for a weekend. Alternatively we recently spent a lovely weekend in Newcastle

What about a weekend in Swansea South wales.

We have a lovely costal area called the Gower also the Breacon Beacons mountain range, Waterfalls, Caves, Museums and much more.

Cambridge is nice, we stayed at my ds for a long weekend, and quite easy to get to London, we have also stayed in Linclon, or Warwick, it depends on the type of things you like doing/seeing.
North Wales has some very nice places;)

We love Edinburgh. More than enough to do & see there, whatever you're interests.

And all sorts of accomodation.

Last time we went we stayed in a 3bedroomed house within walking distance of Princes St. Lovely place, and quite reasonable for 4 of us (2 adults/2children)- certainly cheaper than a hotel, and convenient having our own kitchen.

Yes, Chester is nice - lots to do in the surrounding area too. I only live about 13 miles away and forget about it being a tourist destination!

We've just got back from a trip to Birmingham and we thought the city was lovely. The Bullring was great for shopping - Selfridges there has a Krispy Kreme outlet! We stayed in the Jury's Inn by the canal and it was great.

We also loved Liverpool when we went three years ago.

I'm going to Chester this weekend on a girly shopping/dining/drinking fest and believe that it is something along the lines of York for a lot of things.

I love Windermere, know it's not a city, but lovely all the same. I quite like Brighton too.

Im going into Chester today, taking my DS to the museum, visitors centre and if rain hold off will look at some of the Roman ruings. we only live about 10 miles away, so not my idea of a weelend away.

The secret is to only tell him when you are actually there and not before the trip.

Would have to say Scotland

Edinburgh is fab and i love it, however Glasgow is the top city break place in scotland (yep suprised me!) has great shopping and lots of bars.

Also Aberdeen is great for a break and we love going up there.

Hope this helps.
