Just got off the phone with DH - we only got back from Orlando on Sunday - he wants me to start looking into next years holiday. ;)
We had decided to leave WDW ( ) - I know - for a couple of years - we have been the last 2 on the trot and sitting around the beach area at Typhoon Lagoon got us thinking about maybe a Caribbean holiday next year.
So, has anyone any ideas on where I should look - we were thinking about Mexico, maybe, or the Dom Rep, or Jamaica, or anywhere like that really.
Any ideas, websites, travel agencies, anything, greatly appreciated! My countdown is looking a little bare at the mo!! :spin: :spin:
Edited to say my countdown looks like it's going itself in 17 days! Don't know what's happened there but we are not going then!!

Your countdown clock is now counting up not down!
Mexico would be great - have a look at First Choice. Avoid Cancun - very touristy/busy/noisy. Also do not go during American spring break. Riveria Maya is meant to be very nice as it Cozumel.

for the Dom Rep, the north is more commercialised than the south and eastern resorts, but the best beaches are in the east and the south, and the waters there are caribbean as opposed to atlantic in the North.
I agree with Anna, Riviera Maya, although a longer flight, is far nicer and more "real" than cancun ....
There are many beautiful resorts in the islands, each has their own advantages and disadvantages.
If you need any help I can also assist with this type of holiday as well.

My husband recommends Grenada, St Lucia, Tortola and Virgin Gorda (in order of expense). I have only been to St Lucia and very much enjoyed it. Stayed in its first year at the Wyndham Morgan Bay. I think its now called the Almond.
A friend has just come back from Barbados and doesn't rate it at all anymore (she has been before). I would avoid Jamaica personally due to problems there have been.
I would also choose AI in the caribbean as the food is expensive and, in SL certainly, would have been miles to go to leave the hotel to eat anyway.
What about the florida keys?
It is possible to get white sand beaches with a perfect sea in Europe too. Just not the fish. If you want those you will need a long haul or red sea.

we are going to playacar, mexico, at the end of next april, after easter and spring break are over, I have made sure of that. we are staying at the iberostar tucan and it looks (and sounds ) absolutely fantastic. we are going with first choice (premier) flying direct from manchester for @ £400 less than virgin (economy) via miami! the rest of the carribean seemed very expensive in comparison ( barbados, antigua etc).

Can I recommend New England?
We are going for the third time in September and I can't recommend it enough!
We love Cape Cod. The beaches are beautiful and the villages are stunning.
Rockport in Massachusettes is a delight and the coastline in Maine is fantastic.
Boston is a fantastic city to visit and we once bumped into Bruce Springsteen on Newbury Street!:spin:
