View Full Version : Down Town Disney - The one in Anaheim?
I was just wondering what DTD Anaheim is like. Does anyone what is there, eg shops restaurants. Any entertainment.
Can any Dibbers help please?
Cheers
Jools xx
It's a bit like City Walk with shops, restaurants & cafes and it runs in between the two parks.

Although our visit was fairly brief, DTD Anaheim is has plenty of shops, some quite specialised and several restaurants including Rainforest Cafe, House of Blues, a nice looking Italian that I can't remember the name of. I didn't see any entertainment but that's not to say there isn't any. All I would say is that if you want to eat there you would be best making a reservation as stand-by lines in all restuarants were very long.

The DTD is much smaller than the one in Florida. There is a World of Disney store that is quite big, a cinema, Rainforest Cafe, ESPN zone and a few more smaller stores. Were you looking for something in particular?

Thanks everyone. I reckon we'll be dinin g at House of Blues one evening. Tortilla Joes will probably be sampled too :DLooks like lots of shops too.
I wasn't looking for anything in particular just wondering what was there.
Downtown Disney in Anaheim is good. They have loads of shops and places to eat, the ESPN zone, a cinema and if you have kids, Build a Bear Workshop is fantastic, you can get a bear for $10 with a birth certificate and then you can buy different outfits for it.
If you have little girls then you just have to take them to Libby Lu's!!! they can get their hair done and make up, get their nails done and buy lots of "girly" things.
World of Disney is huge and you can get all kinds of Disney stuff in there.
Downtown Disney is in the middle of the 2 parks and you can walk from either of the parks to it in just a few minutes.

Thanks Mo. It is just DH and I going. My little girl is 19 but I may still get her one of the bears as she still loves her soft toys. She would have loved Libby Lu's - well maybe one day I'll be a grandmother to a little girl.....
We enjoy looking around the World of Disney store in Florida and are looking forward to looking in the Anaheim one too.
Hi Jools,
my little girl is almost 18 and when we were in Anaheim in July, she wanted to get another bear, we both got one in 2004 and bought loads of outfits for them, its like playing dressing up but with bears instead of dolls...lol.
She also said that she wished she was little as she loved Libby Lu's.
I'm not an expert on california, but if you want to ask any questions, I've been there 3 times and might know the answer.

Hi Mo,
We really fancy a day at a beach. Can you recommend a good one not too far from Anaheim?
Jools xx
Thers a fantastic restaurant upstairs in CATAL, had last years christmas dinner here..
Jools,
we went to Huntingdon Beach where they hold the surf championships and it was nice, but very big waves. Also went to Newport Beach (which is where a lot of The OC is filmed) again, big waves.
We had a few hours at Venice Beach which we loved, theres so much going on there besides the sea and the sand, you can spend a whole day there just people watching. I had a tatto done when I was there...... great souvenir!!!
Huntingdon and Newport beaches are short drives away, but Venice Beach takes a little longer.

Thanks Mo. We love a day at the seaside :)
Jools,
not been to Long Beach, but they have the Queen Mary there, its a hotel now. Theres also a huge aquarium which is supposed to be good.
Even after visiting the area 3 times (9 weeks there in total) theres still a lot we've not seen, but we're not going back for a while as the jetlag just about kills me!!!

DTD Anaheim is great, agree with the reservations thing as we could only get into the italian the night we were there with a reasonable queue and it was very late not your standard dinner time, you can see bits of the firework and stuff from there too. The build a bear is just divine there better than the one we went to in Florida. The World of Disney shop is huge and we spent quite a while looking. Hope you enjoy your time we were there at Easter and had a great time.
