i'm sure its been discussed before but i'm posting on my pda from florida on free wifi and its not easy.

can anyone suggest a good airboat not too far from disney (1 hour or so), i want the kids to experience a ride and give them the best possible chance of seeing gators in the wild.

Hi hope you're having a good time. There is a place called Boggy Creek which has two locations (2001 E. Southport Rd. Kissimmee, Florida 34746 and 3702 Big Bass Rd. Kissimmee, FL 34744). Think it's about 45 mins from Disneyworld. Hope this helps.:wavey:

Boggy Creek Airboats www.bcairboats.com at the East Lake Fish Camp is the nearest and most popular. Did it ourselves last year and it was superb. Definately one of the highlights of the holiday. Captain takes you out into the swampy areas of the lake and parks the boat very near to lazing Gators. Awesome sight seeing these creatures in the wild.
I think the difference between the 2 sites is East Lake has facilities and Southport Park doesnt, at least it didnt last time I checked .

Give it a go, dont think you will be dissapointed.

We went to boggy creek a few months ago. I was really good, a great break from the theme parks. However we didnt see any gators, but the whole experience was just as good.

If you have young kids i would suggest investing in some wrist straps or harnesses just to be on the safe side, as these boats go fast.

We went to the airboats right down at the bottom of Poinciana last year but there was a storm brewing so we didn't get to go out. It's very easy to find - just keep driving down Poinciana and you can't miss it on the left. We're going back when we're over in September and plan to go back.

We went to a different location last month, having done the boggy Creek one before.

They advertise in local leaflets but the place and tel. no. is.

Cypress Lake Fish Camp and RV Park
Kenansville FL 34739
Tel. (407) 957-3135

The cost was $44 per person but lasted for well over an hour and we saw lots of wildlife, cattle and gators.

We went to the Poinciana Boggy Creek last November. We got there early and were the first boat out. It was great and we saw all types of wildlife including a bald eagle, that swooped down in front of us and took a fish out of the water. The guide also stopped the boat in a small inlet and showed us some newly born baby alligators. Definitely recommend it.

We did the airboat ride just over a week ago at boggy creek we did the airboat and monster buggy safari I think it was $130 for two adults and two kids. The airboat was good fun we saw some baby alligators and different birds, my DS got to sit up top with the driver (captain). I think we all enjoyed the the monster buggy safari tour alot more though, we saw alot more animals, deer, alligators, cattle, raccoons, lots of different birds.

Just to complete the post we did the air boat and moster buggy safari at boggy creek, it was good fun and the kids enjoyed it, I'm sure the buggy safari would have been better if it hadn't been so dry of late as there were no bogs all the tracks were rock hard.
My only comments really would be it was a bit fabricated / organised compared to the airboat ride we did in 1993 in the everglades. The buggy ride more than the airboat, e.g. its not hard to find animals when you have automatic corn feeders hung from the trees.
It cost us $179 for 3 adults and 2 kids for the full trip (30 min airboat & 40 min buggy ride)
