I have booked two weeks at the ASMo for next Sept, but after thinking about it I don't want to dtay there that long. We will stay there for the first week then move for the second week. Will Disney take the cost of the ASM room off my bill if I upgrade with them? I've only ever booked with the travel agents here and to change it this end they want £35 per person.

It might be worth your while pricing up the new accom with Disney direct. I think Disney would be unlikely to take into account the cost of your ASM room - what cost would they take into account? (the holiday company prob' gets it at a deep discount). Just abandoning your accom at ASM and checking in to the alternate accom booked direct might be cheaper than a change, but you will not know until you have priced it up. Booking direct you will also have to pay Resort Tax which is not included in any booking rate given, but will be included in the accom booked through your UK tour operator.

If you have made your booking through a Travel Agent, then your contract
is between you and the travel agent, the travel agent will be paying Disney
for your room therefore any cancellation will need to be made with the Travel
Agent.

I wasn't thinking of cancelling just moving from one Disney hotel to another.

I've upgraded through Virgin Holidays from a standard YC room to a concierge level YC room - I was very surprised (and of course delighted) that the price was extremely competitive, in fact it worked out cheaper through Virgin then if I'd gone to Disney direct.

Do it before you go. There may be no availability at your chosen resort otherwise. They do fully book sometimes - especially with so many taking advantage of the free dining, conferences, dreaded cheerleaders and other events.

When we arrived at Coronado Springs and had problems, we enquired at the desk about moving to Wilderness Lodge (we had booked a tailor made through a UK travel company) and told it was no problem so long as a room was available (it was) but it was going to cost us an extra $500 for a 9 night stay (moderate to deluxe). We decided that we were maybe just tired and to wait until the following day, then decided to not use up our budget to move hotels.
My point being, it is possible once there but at a cost!

ClareH would you mind me asking how much extra you had to pay to upgrade to YC concierge. We are staying in a standard room next year for our wedding anniversary and DH in interested in staying concierge but I'm sure when I looked it was about £1100 more for the four of us, which more or less covered the cost of the dining plan?
