I know roughly how it all works, you buy an allotment of points to use each year which you use to book accommodation.

What I can't seem to find any info on is how much it all costs. Are there any DVC members who can fill me in on the financial side of things????

It costs around $80-$90/point depending on which resort you buy at. You buy an allotment of points, usually a minimum of 150. 174 points will get you 2 weeks in a studio in October. You have to pay annual dues (approx $800/year for 170 points)

as an example, we are buying 171 points at the boardwalk which will cost us just under £8,500 - this includes this years dues and closing costs.
For that we can stay in a studio for 2 weeks every year, or more likely, we will travel every 18 months and be able to do 12 nights in a 1 bedroom (probably spending 1 weekend offsite).

We purchased 200 points for Saratoga Springs last year and cost us £10,000. They had a promotion on and they give us 200 free points.

Our dvc guide recommended 200 points as this would give us 2 weeks in studio every year which meets our needs.

Trying not to sound thick here but here goes lol if you buy the points does that mean you have a holiday every year for a certain amount of years? or do you buy the points yearly? sorry if that sounds REALLY stupid but I never knew what DVC was till this thread.

The purchase of points is a one off fee, depending on how many you want obviously. You receive these points every year for use that year. If you don't use them you can bank them to the following year, and you can borrow your points from the next year if you want.

The only other cost is annual dues which are paid every January, whether you use the points or not, again these dues are calculated on the number of points you own.

Membership expires in about 2045 I think, so you only have the next 39 years of holidays sorted out!!!!
