We went with Cosmos and stayed at the Santa Monica hotel in Salou. Port Aventura was 10 minutes away on the little train that stops right outside the park.
The park hotels look really nice, but as we wanted to do a lot of other things besides the park, we chose tp stay in Salou.
My daughter loved it there, said it was one of the best holidays she had ever had!!!

We looked into going there this year and if you want to stay in a Port Aventura hotel I would say look at Thomas Cook as these offer the Port Aventura hotel and the Caribe hotel. We wanted to stay in one of these because you get access to the new private beach club which you don't get if you stay at the El Paso (slightly cheaper option). The beach club opened this year and is located on the Playa Largo beach, offering 'a private area for swimming, dining and relaxing, including 6 pools and a children's pool plus 2 restaurants and changing facilities.' Sounds good to me!:thumbs-up You also gets one days entry to the Caribe Aquatic park and unlimited access to the Port Aventura park as well as other perks!
7 nights at the Port Aventura Hotel this year was £715 for adults and £369 for children.
7 night at the Caribe Resort was £599 for adults and £389 for children.
They probably offer free kids places though.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for that both of you. We don't really want to do much apart from Port Aventura, we want to be on site so that the group doesnt feel like it needs to stay together if you see what I mean, this will be the first holiday for us and my boyfriends family together so we are being very careful.

I didn't notice El Paso didn't have access to the Beach Club though that was the only one coming up on the internet with them I will check again

Port aventura is a very good park. It is well themed, good value for money and has plenty of attractions. However Salou is a dump!

Either stay on site (that way you can cut yourself off!) or stay in Cambrils and drive every day which is about a 15 minute journey. Have fun!

We booked with Eclipse online as they were £500 cheaper than First Choice who is their sister company!! We are staying at El Paso, one of Port Aventura's hotels, going in August 2007.

Thank you all for your input, everything appreciated whether positive or negative. I will check out Eclipse hadn't heard of them.

They are very helpful. They even gave us a good deal on the deposit (£25 pp) rather than the quoted deposit online as we told them that that was what First Choice had offered ;)

Thanks Sharon have just checked them out, looks good, I can't make the final decision though have to wait for bf to have a look. He is a bit dubious about booking on the internet but after going into a travel agent this week and being quote £400 more I think he is coming around to my way of thinking.

Hi!

We came back from Portaventura on Tuesday night. We booked with Cosmos, flying with First Choice from Gatwick. We stayed at the Hotel Caribe Resort (a Portaventura Resort) for 7 nights. The resort was lovely- palm trees, a beachy swimming pool- a very holiday feel. We went to the theme park most days, taking advantage of the Universal Hotel Express Passes- which were brilliant, and we visited the water park twice (once we payed out of pocket, as we were allocated our water park day on the last day of our holiday).

The buffet breakfast and dinner at the hotel was wonderful.

If you have any questions, just ask :)
