I have 4 kids, 2 off whom a registered disabled. my 12yr has aspergers syndrome and my 7 year old has adhd. they both have blue badges for the car.
My sons consultant at the hospital has written a letter for me to take on hols explaining about my sons condition and that he will need to be allowed to move around on the aircraft and that he doesnt "do queues".

We have 5 park orlando flexpasses, does anyone know if the parks included have any kind of special rules for disabled kids, given that they are not physically disabled but mentally??

And can we use the blue badges in florida??

Thanks :)

elfie, all the parks have assistance passes in place for guests with all kinds of disabilities, visit Guest Relations when you arrive and explain what your kids need and they should be able to offer whatever help is required.
As far as assistance on the plane goes, call the Special Needs department of the airline you are travelling with and ask them to note on your booking whatever help you need.

Elfie - my DS has Dyslexia/dyspraxia, mild ADHD and very mild Tourettes - the main problems I face with him revolve around the actual journey, there and back - eg, keeping him amused on a long flight, dealing with him getting hyper with excitement, him getting over tired through excitement (resulting in potential mega tantrums and very hyped, loud and occasionally, obnoxious behaviour:rolleyes: ). We are now close to our 4th visit, and all these problems can be managed successfully, so that all of you can and will have a fabulous time:) If anything I have said strikes a chord, please feel free to pm, and I'll pass on all info/tips I have.:D

As others have said, they really knock themselves out over there to facillitate the individuals needs, especially with learning dissabilities - please relax - you will have a fantastic time:D

Thanks for that Sue. We try not to give our son (adhd) his medication when we are on holidays as it makes him really subdued and thats the last thing we want when we are in Florida, We want him to have fun!! The thought of standing in queues with him, etc when he isnt on his tablets is unbearable lol
but I am taking everyones advise and going to try and get a GAC when we get there.
Thank again

when entering any Park go to Guest services and explain they will give you a Guest assistance Card this will help you to gain access without queing you may have to wait a few mins its a very useful card to have, they marked it up for your entire stay in orlando so you dont have to keep going back to Guest Services

Hiya everyone, we had the best time ever, and yes, we so do want to go back! Everywhere was so accomodating to the kids, we were issued express passes but to be honest, the queues weren't that big anyway. It was just fab!
