Good afternoon everyone.:wavey:
I have a problem that I hope someone can help me with. I am travelling with my family 2-16 Sept 07. Due to the free ddp I booked on Friday (I'm very excited by the way), there are 3 adults and 1 child going.
However my brother would now like to take a friend, thus 4 adults and 1 child. So I would now like an extra room - so I contact Disney to be told that I would have to make a separate booking and that the two rooms would be in separate buildings as they only have preferred rooms left!!
Has anyone else had this issue and any suggestions around this!! I have kind of been knocked for six as I thought this would be easy to do with the length of time to go.:omg:
Thanks
Jen

More than a year to go and only prefered rooms left, that doe not sound right. Are you booking through a travel agency?

No, booking direct with Disney Travel Company. :( I have even looked up the website and for those dates it only has Prefferred rooms left. I was thinking of cancelling my booking and rebooking through the website, but no luck there. I just want us all to be at least in the same building, ideally on the same floor!

I think Disney class 6 of the 10 buildings as being preferred rooms so it is very likely that they may have only those left if they fill up the standard rooms first. Sorry about that. If you look at the map layout here (http://www.thedibb.co.uk/web/maps/asmovmap.gif) buildings 1, 4, 5, 8, 9 and 10 are all classed as preferred as they are closer to the main building.
That could be why Disney are saying those are preferred rooms.

I know this will probably sound strange, but we really didn't want a preferred room as we felt the standard rooms being further away would be quieter. So thinking that we will have to pay more for a room that we don't need/want is a little annoying. I just can't get over how quick it has filled up with a year to go. And initially I wasn't going to book this till next April!

Maybe it is the allocation to the disney uk that has sold. You go to the US site it has availabilty for both types of room, the cost foe the standard room is $1249 for 1 or 2 adults. Only thing is you can't get the free dining on that site.
This does show they have availabilty though. I'd call beack and talk to them, tell them there is avail. on the US site.

Cheers Amyrlin - I'll try that. Hopefully I'll get a nicer person to talk to.
I suspect that with 4 adults and one child you do genuinely want the space but if it were just Disney rules that were the issue, rather than being squished :-) you might consider port orleans river side with a rollaway bed. They allow 5 and would offer moderate facilities ( including boat to DTD) at a lower cost than two value rooms. My grammar and punctuation here is abysmal but I hope you get the gist of it :-)

I phoned up again today (as if I was calling for the first time), I spoke to Barbara who really had the Disney spirit. Absolutely no problems with booking the extra room and she confirmed with me that it would be connecting, although not guaranteed they would ensure the rooms were as close as could be.
:mickey2: So have a Magical Day - I am now!
