We are seriously thinking about changing our flights so we are there for 19 nights rather than 17.:spin: :d: :spin:

We have most of our accommodation sorted as we are staying at Orange Lake for 2 weeks and if we do change flight to flying out on 5-10 will just stop in a Ho-Jo or something simlar for the 1st night.

My dilema is for the final 3 or 4 nights (if we extend) I intially wanted to stay at AKL but cant find anything for below $250 a night:-(

We are prepared to go to $150 a night and my choices at the moment are as follows:

Radisson Celebrations

Disney Carribean beach

Royal Plaza DTD

Or do you have any other suggestions as any help would be gratefully received:wavey:

To elaborate a bit on my previous post :) if you can afford it, staying on-site is really nice. I love POR as it's beautifully designed and landscaped, with a kinda casual and laid-back relaxed atmosphere. It feels much quieter than the other moderates, despite its size, and we adore staying there. Lovely pool, nice boat ride to Downtown Disney, and for those extra few nights it'd be a wonderful way just to relax a bit and just pick and choose what you want to do. Plan for those few days to be all Disney time, and use the free on-site transportation, see the fireworks every night, etc. Price-wise, you should be able to get it for the $150 a night region (the rates are the same as the Caribbean Beach).

Onsite would be great, but we just returned from the Royal Plaza and it was lovely and almost as good as being onsite. The hotel was lovely and very close to all the Disney parks, you also have the Disney buses from there and it is within a walk of DTD.
It really depends what you want to do in those few days, if you want to chill and spend time in your hotel, I'd go for a hotel with a great pool and nice surroundings, if you will be out doing parks every day then it won't matter so much where you stay.
If you plan to visit the Universal parks then maybe a few nights at one of those hotels would be a good idea.

We are staying at universal whilst at orange lake I really fancy a bit of Disney to finish of the hol as I have never stayed on site, I would imagine what we will do will be a a day or so at park and the rest to chill!
Think i'm gonna have to check Disneys site again

Then of all the moderates, definitely go for Port Orleans (especially the Riverside section). It's lovely and relaxed and you could spend all day just pottering around there doing hotelly stuff if you want - I'll bet that you can't resist the temptation of the parks for a bit though! :)

I totally adore Port Orleans French Quarter, but any of the moderates are wonderful.
Book one, and then keep an eye on mousesavers because sometimes codes come out which can bring AKL down substantially - if one does, you can call up and transfer your reservation (assuming you have booked direct with CRO in the states)

PS - are your last 4 nights week nights or weekends? You could rent points at a DVC property for less than $150/night during the week (Fri/Sat nights are more), and then you could stay at a disney deluxe like the boardwalk or wilderness lodge.

Oh Bev now you are talking. Our last 4 nights are Fri through to Mon, so checking out on Tuesday morning. How do I go about renting DVC points

You need to find a DVC member who wants to rent them out, there are sometimes people on here with points to rent, or you can nearly always find someone on thedis.

Friday to Monday in October would be 60 points in a standard view at the boardwalk, 58 at Old Key West, 64 at Saragtoga, 70 at Wilderness Lodge or the beach club. If you did 4 week days then it would be less (48 for the beachclub). You can expect to pay $10/point to rent.

You are looking at food and wine time, so it may be hard to get a room at the boardwalk or beachclub - but the best thing to do is find someone wanting to rent points out and ask them to check for you.

If you can't push to a deluxe hotel, what about Coronado Springs..gets some good feedback...just a thought. Have a great time.
