We have booked an ADR at Rainforest Cafe, but have read on the boards that it is very expensive and not really worth it. We are booked to got to the one at Animal Kingdom. Would you go or would we be better off going to Downtown Disney and getting a meal there?

We liked it. We prefer the animal kingdom one to the downtown one.
The cheesecake on their menu was delicious. I had the chinese chicken with noodles - yum!
Its fun and not too expensive.

We went to the AK one, and loved it. We found the food really nice, and the setting amazing. We thought it was worth the money, but if you are not really bothered about the theming then i can understand why some people may not like it.

I had a wonderfull breakfast at Animal Kingdom. We got there before the park opened and no reservation but all fine. Make sure you go hungry! We did have an evening meal there once too and it was good. AK one is better than DTD.

I've only been to the Rainforest Café in DD, and I can't say that it was Expensive (not cheap, but certainly not over the top). We've been there 3 times now, and always had a lovely meal in one of the best themed restaurants there is. It's wonderful, especially if you've never been before. Their smoothies are fantastic.
It can get very busy, and you do feel as if it's all rushed - but just slow down to your own pace and enjoy it.

I don't think it's that expensive, I think we paid about $80 for 2 adults and a child which I don't think is OTT. The theming is really good but as someone else said if you're not that bothered about the theming then you will get cheaper food elsewhere of the same quality.

In comparsion with a lot of US restruants it is expensive, but comparing it to UK ones it is what we might expect. The food is good and the settting is unique, it is certainly worth going to, and the food is quiet good as well.

I absolutely love it there; the theming and the food.:tounge:
Our first visit was a little dissapointing, however, as it was just DH and I (no kids at this time!) and we were put in a small table for 2 in the corner away from all the theming.:( I wish I'd had the courage to say something at the time....but didn't!
We've been back since with the kids and had a fabulous table and a fabulous time! I say go for it, but don't hold back if you're not happy with anything!;)

We love the Rainforest Cafe! We have been to DTD and AK 3 or 4 times and enjoyed them both! I don't think it's expensive and the surroundings are fabulous! Try the Cobb Salad, it's devine! We are off to trying out the London one tomorrow night and i'm hoping the cobb salad is just as good as its american version!:tounge:

We've been to the AK one twice and enjoyed it. Yes it's a bit pricey but the setting is awesome and food is nice.

We have never been to The Rainforest Cafe in WDW/Downtown Disney, but have visited the London one three times, the last time being on Sunday. However, this last visit was awful - we were sat downstairs with hardly any theming, no rain effect/thunder and it seemed damp and dirty. :(
The meal came to £70 and tbh the value for money was dreadful. The other times we have been, we have loved it, but this time I felt so disappointed, although I would never let on to the children. I have even emailed them. I think we will try to visit the AK one or Downtown Disney one when we are there, but never the London one again. The servers were rude and the food, so bland - a plate full of fries and a small sandwich was £13.95. Last time we at least got coleslaw and salad as well! the childrens meal deal was, wait for it.... £10.95! and consisted of a plate of cheesy pasta and a bowl of jelly!
Sometimes us Brits have alot to learn when it comes to service compared to our fellow Americans! (and portion size!):confused2
You probably pay a bit more to take account of the theming but it's well worth it as a special experience. I've always wanted a table right next to one of their great aquariums, but sadly haven't had the pleasure yet.
No doubt I will get shot down in flames BUT although I enjoyed our meal at DTD I did feel it was all overrated and a bit on the pricey side.

We went ot the one in DTD and i thoroughly enjoyed it and didnt think the food was too expensive. Atmosphere was brilliant, food was excellent(spare ribs are to die for) and i much preferred it to Planet Hollywood.

Here here Disneyowl!!!!:d: :d:
We went to the one at DTD last trip, first time to RFC and really enjoyed it. Good food, superb service and no rush.
BUT - we had made a reservation so no queueing and the tables were piled on top of each other - we were only a 2 but parties of 6 were squashed onto tables for 4, no room to put all the plates!!!! This was in September, so heaven knows what it's like at busy times?

last year we enjoyed the experience but not the food, so this year we sat in the bar area and just had drinks and desserts, it was much more enjoyable and we didnt have to wait for a table either.

We went to RFC at AK and Loved It - the food and the surroundings were great. The kids faces were a picture when all the animals moved. It was brill:thumbs-up
You must try the "Volcano" for dessert - there were 3 adults and 2 children in our party and 1 volcano was quite sufficient.;) ....everyone who's had one will know what I mean:d: :D :d:
We just booked our table when we entered AK that day and it is our intention this year to do the same - I can't wait to go back.:wavey:

If you've never been before then you should give it a try especially if you have kids. We've been a couple of times and not had a bad meal which has consigned it to out currently short list of restaurants we'll not be visiting again any time soon (i.e. outback, red lobster, fish bones). Personally though apart from Race Rock we tend to avoid themed restaurants like Planet Hollywood/Hard Rock Cafe as we feel the food is better quality and value elsewhere.

:wavey: I agree with Loznoon - if you have kids you should definitely put it on your list.
You should try their mocktails/cocktails....... yummy :tounge:
I think the Rainforest Cafe is excellent. Food can sometimes be a little bit bland but normally very nice. The ambience is what makes the place really. Oh and the cocktails.
I've eaten at the DTD restaurant a few times but I'm not going back to that one. The food and theming is great but I've just got fed up with the reeeeeaaaaaalllly slloooooooooooooooooooooooow service we've had on every visit.
Tried the London one a few years back and that was worse. Slow service, substandard food, and we had a table butted right up to an aquarium so had numerous people stop and lean over us to see the fish.:mad2:

We went to the AK one and it was one of our favourites - kids loved it (including the 14 year old!). Don't know about the DTD one.

I am afraid we were not impressed at all. We went to the AK one
We went last November and it was the biggest disappointment of the holiday.
We were a party of 5 (4 adults and 3 year old) we hated the experience from start to finish.
The wait wasnt to long about 10 minutes, we were sitted and the drinks came.
I found the noise over powering couldnt hear anyone at our table and the waiter must have got fed up with me saying pardon.
I hate it when I cant see the food on my plate it was so dark in there.
I hate to say it but all the vegetation seemed dirty.
The food was OK nothing special and I found it over priced compared to the other food in Disney (probably because we just didnt enjoy it).
My advice would be have a snack and go and spend your money on a dinner somewhere else.
Sorry this is the only bit of Disney I found tacky.

 Hi there!!
We have done the DD and the AK Rainforest Cafe and definatly worth it!!!
It was one of our more expensive meals but realised why when we got the bill as the children had chosen this large plastic drink beaker with straw and frog on type-of-thing and if I remember this bumped up our bill BIG STYLE!!!
Really nice, go for it!!!
