I was hoping that was the case. I have not booked Sci-fi diner because I know that as long as you dont mind waiting for a while you always get in.
Thanks for that....
Does anyone know the time that California Grill closes.

How many of you are there??
As a 2, we showed up at Sci-fi and loads were waiting to be seated - we were called in 2 minutes - the cars take 6, so a 2 can always fit in with a family of four whereas bigger parties are harder to accommodate.
The time of year you are going, you should be able to walk up to many restaurants. California Grill being the exception, as people want tables for Wishes whatever the time of year it is.

Sue, as we have a table for 9.30, will we be able to view the fireworks from anywhere before dinner.
What worries me about eating that late too is... will the options be limited - will they start to run out of anything... I am a fussy eater.
Thank you.
25 days in is pretty close in for CG. It gets affected as well by early sitters being very reluctant to give up there table until they have watched wishes (they dim the lights and synch the music in, or they did at christmas)..

Theres a bar and a central area with tables and sofas but if its busy this can be packed out as well.. However you will easily find somewhere to stand and watch from this area.

I am sure if you keep trying for CG and LC you may get lucky, but for walk ups at Le Cellier, everytime we went last year they were turning away guests all evening, from opening to closing ..... there was not a seat to be had .....

We ate at Le Cellier this year when we were there at the end of July. We had made an ADR, but one family came in as a walk-in and I heard the CM tell them that they were fully booked until at least October.

We are going as a family of 4. I will be miffed if we have to share our car with 2 strangers.

It's quite common to share a car, but they will be seated in a seperate row behind you.
When we walked up, we were seated at a picnic table at the back, which was ok but not as fun as a car.

I thought it was all cars. I have already made an ADR for when we go. Should I ask for a car when we "check in"?

You will almost definitely get a car, there are 2 or 3 picnic tables at the back and I think they are just used for walk-ups.

I have never made a reservation for Sci-fi diner and have always got in.
Maybe had to wait but have always got a car.
If you get one of the seats mentioned, just refuse it and ask to wait for a car.
You can then go back at the designated time.
Dont worry with the Sci-fi diner, its a big Restaurant you will have a great time I am sure.

I would say do not risk trying to do Le Cellier as a walk up as when we went there everyone was being turned away and it was ADRs only.
We asked about making another booking for later in the week (this was in April) and they said that they were booked at night for the next couple of months. We did manage to make a booking for a lunch though. Just as good food.

we were in the private back seat of our car;)
there were a lovely American family in the front rows but we could only see the top of their heads and definitely did not feel like we were at the same table as it were:thumbs-up

We were offered the choice, a picnic table now or a car in 2 hours, we were hungry so we went with the table. It was fine, but I can see if you were really looking forward to a car you would be disappointed. They certainly let us know before we were seated that we were at the back, and gave us the option not to take it.

Thing is with the free dining and DDP a lot of places are booked up much quicker and some don't even take walk-ups at times.

Don't forget free dining is on while you are there. That will probably make a difference to which restaurants will be able to accommodate 'walk-ups'
