Hi Blue I was thinking the same. Have no idea what the OP is going on about. Ali and Boyz please explain and we might be able to offer some advice.

sorry
disney (disney vacation club) won't allow us to book a cash reservation as in paying by visa or cash at Saratoga Springs for a lock-off (2 bedroom) which is a 2 bedroom villa with two doors one side a studio and the other 1 bedroom with adjoining doors which you can shut. dedicated is a standard 2 bedroom villa . first is if you have say 6 people but it is with two families.

sorry think I am making this worse, hopefully someone will come along and explain what I am not :pgig:

I think someone who has is a DVC club member may know what you are on bout Ali. Perhaps you could edit your subject heading to reflect that you need help with DVC.

I understand, but I don't know the answer....
I didn't think they had very many 2 beds that weren't lock-offs, in fact, I thought that nearly all of them were. When we did our tour, we weren;t shown a 2 bed, just told it was a 1 bed+studio next door.

Is a ressie for a 1bed and a studio more than the cost for a 2 bed? if it is, then I am guessing that's your answer.

Do you get the extra kitchenette in a dedicated 2 bed? and the extra bathroom?

like you I thought there were more lock-offs than dedicated and I have phoned well in advance . you get the extra kichenette (well wee fridge, toaster which is ideal for Mum and Dad) with the lock-off. the dedicated you get the full kitchen. it was more the fact that it gave us more privicy because of DS's issues that the lock-off was ideal . to be honest I don't know if it was dearer what confused me was when I first phoned they said oh you can only use you points for a lock-off cannot pay cash so I didn't book as I wanted to speak to my husband. we decided to borrow some of 2008 points as we were only short of a few points but when I phoned back member services it was someone different and she said oh you can't book any lock-off accessable villas . I have emailed my guide to see what he says.

Ali -

interestingly there are 240 dedicated 2 bed units, and 288 lock offs (which basically means 288 studios, and 288 one beds)

there MUST be accessible one bed apartments, and it would appear that all the one beds connect to a studio, so I don't see how they can't give you a 2 bed accessible lock off.

i have discovered that the 2nd bedroom in a dedicated unit has 2 beds, whereas in a lockoff it has one. That is fab news for us, as it means we could travel with my parents, they could have the king bed, and we could all have the 2nd room and noone has to sleep on the sofa bed.

We originally booked a studio for DH and me, and a one-bedroom unit for DD and her family and asked for them to be close together. We each wanted our privacy but not at opposite ends of the resort. I then found out, but can't remember where, that a two-bedroom unit is a one-bedroom adjoining a studio. So rang DVC back and asked if this were true, which was answered in the affirmative. I said that we might just as well book a two-bedroom unit instead as it used less points, which was also agreed.

I don't suppose that's of any use to you at all!!!!

I think I would ring Member Services and try again - you'll probably get a different answer again. Try enough times and you'll get what you want! he, he.

thanks everyone,

thing is when I said to her well last year we had a 2 bedroom lock-off she said oh it must have been you luck.:confused2

as you both say if you are going with others the lock-off is ideal because you both gets you own space and privacy.

I emailed the people whom we hire the equipment off i.e. the hoist and he emailed me straight back saying he can hire us blocks which go under the bed to raise it so the hoist can go under the bed in the main bedroom this will help with the privacy bit for our son. I am also going to email members services and explain everything + cc in our guide. sorry I just went into panic mode yesterday. feel more ascertive and calmer today
thanks again xx

If you were in the 1 bed part last year, then you know they have 2 bed accessible rooms - definitely ring them back and request an accesible room - I think you can quote the ADA act at them, they have an obligation to help you out.

I was reading another board and they said they normally made there reservatoin with member services, and then asked to speak to somone in the Special Needs department who put a note on saying you needed an accessible room.

just had a supervisor from member services on the phone. you CAN book a lock-off that is accessable person yesterday gave me false information. problem now is they have NO availability. I phoned right at the 11 month window. she did say what about OKW or BWV but I said to her if I can't get an accessable villa at my home resort at the 11 month window what chance do I have at another resort at 7 months.

she is phoning me back,

will let you all know how I get on.

That is so bizarre, I just can't imagine that demand for accessible villa's is that high - people are generally complaining that they have received them when they don't want them rather than the other way around.
I would keep pushing them until you get what you want.
