Have you considered Mickeys BBQ?
This is only next door and the character interaction (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip and Dale) is excellent.
Food, Drink and Entertainment excellent value for money.
It is on a Tuesday and Thursday and would be ideal for a 4 year old. Our two boys loved it in 2004 and then again last year.

We have done the Hoop de Doo. TBH I'm not sure it's would keep a 4 year old entertained. Although I haven't done the BBQ, feel this might be more suitable!

Ive done the hoop dee doo twice its very funny but as said before your 4 year old may not be amused i would say may be suitable for nine or ten year olds. The food is great and I warn you now you will come out singing the hoop dee doo song!!!
I would think that the Mickeys backyard barbecue would be more fun for your youngster and you can also go on the pony rides and the petting farm at Fort Wilderness.
One tip is to make sure you have insect repellent as they do like to nip around fort wilderness
I have just done all 3 dinner shows.
Hoop Dee Doo was rated 3rd by me. My kids hated the food. I wasnt impressed with it either. It was my DDs 14th BD. She quite enjoyed it but my 10 year old thought it sucked :) They are fussy eaters.
Backyard BBQ was much better food as you had more choice. Entertainment was better with a good live band.
The best show was the Spirit of Aloha. Food wasnt great but OK. But i rather enjoyed the hula girls ;) My DDs thought it was nice too.
