I found some of the staff at the parks a bit of putting, this time.
Most were fine but, a lot seemed un interested or just didn't know or care.
When my sisters little girl asked one about the parade, she just looked at her shruged her sholders and walked away.
We had a couple of incadents like this.
And at BG, my sisters, wee boy was crying when one of the crocks, was eating a turtle. I said to one of the staff, about it,. And would it not be an idea to take the turtles out.
She just drew me a lok and said, "We can't do anything they are wild animals." I know that but, prevention,by not putting them in together.

I know what you mean about BG I stood waiting for more then a couple of minutes before a couple of staff members who were busy "chatting" would answer a question I had. Also I thought many of the animals didn't look very happy. The elephants in particular were showing signs of stress and when we were walking through one of the aviaries there was a red macaw that looked very sad and sorry for itself. I realise this is connected to them being in captivity but the one we saw in Animal Kingdom seem so much happier.

Funny you say that, I just rang to make even more ADRs and it was the second time I was made to feel that I was a pain the b**

I thought they were meant to be delighted to help.

BG should not be compared to Orlando parks. I personally, dont like the place. I dont like the way the animals are kept, (some) of the staff, the themeing, the shows are holiday camp style, and A LOT of the rides are outdated!with peeling paint, rust, a lot of travelling carnival style rides and some rollercoasters that would sit nicely in an 80s era theme park.

However, It still has 3-4 cracking coasters that i pay the gate fee for. SHIEKRA alone is worth it. But its only for the fact we are going to the coast for a few days we are going.

ANYWAY. Never had a problems with any member of staff at any theme park in Orlando

it really makes me mad when I read complaints about CM's who behave in this way.. I know you are referring to BG in this post but I have read others complaining about Disney CMs...

I had an interview earlier in the year for a job in Disney for 1 year and I didnt get it....I know that I have got what it takes to make an excellent disney CM yet I read about these CMs who have got jobs and obviously dont care about the job in the slightest. Working in WDW is a dream come true for me,now tha t i HAVE been offered a job, il make damn sure of it that I do the very best job I can - Ive gone through a lot to get this job and Im going to make the most of it and enjoy every minute!

We are employed by Disney to make magic for the guests and that is wot il do!

Been home for two weeks after 3 weeks in Orlando - and didn't have any problems with Disney CM's but I'm afraid that the Universal/IOA CM's were pretty poor. It was always an effort to answer any questions or serve you and some just spent their time flirting with a few 'pretty' guests and completly ignoring the fact people were queueing.........And don't get me started on how they just let Fast Pass riders stay on rides or just walk around and get straight on again whilst there was a large queue (40mins wait time) patiently biting their tongues!

I can't say I've ever had a problem with a Disney CM - some do more than others, but I've never had one that was bad. We've had some that are brilliant and gone way beyond the call of duty to make sure we were having a great trip.

My personal favorite moment, and it was only small, was walking back through the lobby at POFQ after we had been on our Family Magic Tour. One of the CMs called out across the lobby 'Hey Katie, I've heard all about you - you saved the Magic Kingdom today!'

She thought it was amazing - how could he possibly know that? I just let her know that we were obviously famous :)

that tiny moment really made her trip

We have usually had nothing but praise for Disney CM's but last year we noticed a huge increase in the number of senior citizen ones (possibly related to the general population age of Florida?) and some of them seemed fantastic with the children, but a bit "offhand" with the adults?? One blocked the turnstile for DH at BB and could not see the problem that he was too busy chatting to his colleagues to let the customers in?

If you get really good service by a CM, do not forget to pop into Guest Services on your way out of the park and mention that (if you have the time) - Disney employess get "Applausograms" that go on their file and help their careers/jobs.

We noticed that on this visit cast members in all of the parks are not as cheerful as they used to be, The staff on the trams from the Disney car parks were not as funny and entertaining as they have been in the past.
I know its not easy to stay happy all day long but they don't seem to be at the same high level as they have been in the past.

We really noticed the staff outside the parks were poor in December 2005 when we went. As said above the staff manning the car park booths rarely said Morning, have a nice day or even raised a smile. We also took our DS 5 in the front of the monorail and had done so years earlier with our little girl and the monorail driver never spoke a word to us and was as miserable as sin.....nothing like it had been all those years before....i appreciate they are there to Drive the monorail but before setting off would a smile and hello where you guys from really have hurt? and a goodbye have a nice day when we disembarked? We thought it was a pretty poor showing.

We never got round to complaining despite intentions to do so but i think we need to start complaining about these incidents en mass if we want Disney to stamp it out.....it would appear its a growing trend and that has to be in some way our fault for accepting it in some small way.

I go back in Nov and will make SURE if anyone is even remotely off with me i will complain...not because i am a complainer cos that could not be further from the truth as i susually let pretty much anything go over my head but because you have to draw the line somewhere or nothing will ever get done about it and it will only become worse!

I agree that you should complain if you have had bad service, but I equally think that if good service has been given it should be made known to guest services. Unfortunately I think people quickly forget to mention the CM's who give that bit extra, but are quick to remember the ones who don't.

We only encountered one CM who was quite rude to us at Rose & Crown. TBH, I didn't want to spoil our day by complaining about her. What she said to us was correct but it was the way she said it:angry:

On the other hand, we met some fabulous CMs and have e-mailed Disney to inform them of these particular CMs. I got a phone call back thanking me for taking the time to inform them of the magical experiences we had because of these CMs.

thanks for mentioning that fact....I will always take the time to compliment a good job, because we are always quick enough to complain for a bad job....so i will make sure I get to Guest services when the need arises.
I wish I would have known earlier, as there was a young Girl in the UK shop who was lovely with my DD and I would have loved her to be noticed for that.
Thanks

I must say that on the way into epcot, I wached a couple of them that were checking the bags, realy quite raty with some. Then this old guy opened a table and he was great, laughing and joking with everyone, his que was zooming through as everyone was ready when they got to him.
he was great.

I did see a few that were more interested talking to there freinds, than helping.
The guy at MK, was standing selling Baloons, he was great, I asked him about the cerimony with the flag, and he took time to explain it all, and was very polite,we told him it was ur last day, then later on as we were on our way out, he made his as over to say good bye,and took time with the kids,to say goodbye and hoped we'd come back soon.

I did laugh at my sisters we girl. when we got home, my sister had been filming the parade, and as the princeces went past, she had zoomed in a bit close, and one of them had right hairy armpits.the look on wee abys face, whats that under her arm Mum. :pgig: :pgig: ..lol.only children...

I know we can all have of days but,We pay good money for people to smile at us,and at least be polite,I also spoke to a few who just looked at me and said, No English ????

I can't say I have ever had any problem with CM's in Disney. We returned from our last trip 2 weeks ago and the service was as good as previous years. The Bus Drivers were particularly entertaining with stories, quiz questions and disney trivia.

We did however notice a difference with Universal, staff were not rude but just appeared not as attentive. I'd echo Hossier's comments re the express pass line - I know it was my choice not to by the additional passes but it was frustrating to see the same people passing you 2 or 3 times in the line.

Also unfortunate enough to have the Hulk, Sipderman and Dudley Do Rights all break down while we were in line. After waiting for for 30 mins the CM announced that they were not sure when the ride would be operational and you could decide to leave the line if you wanted. No CM's were around to assist or answer questions and when Expedition Everest had a "technical Difficulty" we we given 4 fast passes to use anytime over the next 2 weeks. No such service in Universal.

Radz The hulk broke down when ny kids were in the cue for over an hour, as you say, that was it, everyone out we've broke down, my kids were right '@*%& (swear word) of.
And I can't blaim them. No explination. Just closed.
10 min later it was on again.
The $30 for fast passes are a rip of. Universal in my view is going down hill, and are just out to cash in on every thing.. I know they are not a charity, but it can be an expencive day out.

I complained at universal about one member of staff on the ET ride,we had been on it many times over the years and we knew what to expect but in 2001 we took Friends who had never travelled anywhere before...as we went into ET we were met by a non smiling Person who did not make eye contact when i asked a question about why she did not take our names got a sharp reply. we dont do that anymore(they Do).so i asked for the Manager of the Ride who came to meet us at the end of the ride..well worth Complaining we were treated as VIPs for the rest of the day we were given VIP passes to hand to all Staff and were taken to the front of every ride

I get really annoyed with the CM's I see at SeaWorld walking round with their cell phone glued to their ear, it just makes me mad, and I see it more and more now. :(

Positive guest comments are greatly appreciated at SeaWorld too, the comments, good or bad, are typed up and reviewed by management of each department at there daily start-up meeting each morning.
Negative comments are reviewed further and appropriate action is taken to rectify the situation, and positive comments are posted for the employee to see and noted in their files :)

robfl, where do we write our comments to please! this year the CM at the dophin nursery was so good ,infomrative too ,as you were just about to land 10,000 children at sea world, he told us best route and time to leave too . hope you had fun that day !!!!!!

You can pick up a comment card from Guest Services at the front of the park, right next to the entrance/exit.
Or you can go to the seaworld website via this link (http://seaworldorlando.com/seaworld/fla/pi_contact_us.aspx) and send them an email with your comments :)

Robfl. thanks for this, I work in food retail so know only too well that people complain more than compliment so I will remember this when out there next April and keep the link safe too, how is the believe show doing now? as we saw the rehersals and one full show where there was a couple of techy difficulties, I enjoyed what saw but heard that others preferred the older show, like anything new it takes us a while to get our heads around eh!
