Just read on a lovely trippie about leaving Epcot via the International Gateway to get to the Boardwalk.

Can anyone elaborate on this?

What's there? Places to eat? How do you get in & out?

Thanks guys,
H.

I have never heard of Boardwalk, do you have to be a member of the disney hotels to access it, and is it worth a visit?

Check this link http://www.allearsnet.com/btp/brdwlk.htm

We visited for the first time this year and personally we had a nice look around but would probably not go again.

We did not eat there as we were on our way to The Beach Club but the restaurants looked busy.

Boardwalk has a number of restaurants - Spoodles, Flying Fish, ESPN Club, Big River Brewing, some shops and some sidewalk attractions, as well as the Boardwalk Villas hotel. It's build around a lake and the Yacht Club and Beach Club are on the same lake. It's very quiet during the day but livelier at night. It's a pretty area and nice to visit. The International Gateway is an entrance into Epcot by the bridge between UK and France. If you're staying at any of the Epcot resorts (the above 3 hotels or the Swan and Dolphin) it's only a 10-15 min walk or a short boat ride to the International Gateway. It's also a handy place to park, grab a meal and then go into Epcot to watch illuminations and make a much quicker getaway than leaving by the main entrance.

The Boardwalk is one of my favourite areas in Disney! If you go during the day it's lovely and peaceful and of an even it's a great place to stroll and people watch! It's a beautiful, scenic spot and well worth a visit!

It's lovely and if you're an ice cream / dessert lover stop by Beaches & Cream at the Yacht & Beach Club for a Kitchen Sink!

Never noticed this entrance when we wandered round the world earlier this year - how did we miss it?

It's not sign posted or anything. Just before the bridge over to France from the UK there are some shops on the right hand side of the road - you sort of have to turn right to get to them. The International Gateway is just beyond those shops. We missed it the first time around as well!!

You can get the Friendship Boat from Epcot to their resort area (where Boardwalk is located) It goes all the way to MGM actually but you can also just stay on for the ride, it's really relaxing :)

So, what's the best way to get to the Boardwalk from the International Gateway - can you walk it?

I found boardwalk for the first time this year and loved it.You can get access to boardwalk by leaving the international gateway just before you enter into the lands around epcot.

We did all the rides in thr front end of epcot left the park , took the boat around to Boardwalk, had a walk around the Boardwalk, and its shops, had a meal at ESPN and then took the boat to MGM for the fourth of July Fireworks at MGM.

I found boardwalk very relaxing and a a great place for an afternoon chillout away from the busy park

Yes, just get your hand stamped as you exit so that you can get back in again and follow the path. You'll not be able to miss it - don't worry!!

Yes, it takes around 10 mins max. We stayed in the Dolphin this year and it was a real bonus to be able to walk to Epcot and to MGM - both within 20 mins.

We've booked 2 nights at the Dolphin in October so we can walk to Epcot for F&W and stagger back to the hotel! Really looking forward to that.

Could you park at the boardwalk all or do you get a limited numbers of hours free parking. i don't mind if you have to pay for the parking but it would be good to miss some of the melee of getting out of the parking lot at night?

They've stopped doing hand stamps by the way. It's fingerprint metrics now.

Check Google Earth, you can see the path everyone is talking about. We intend to see Boardwalk next trip.

We are meeting some Dibbers there for a meal this October and wanted to park in Boardwalk before entering Epcot. Would be grateful if someone could confirm that this is OK.

Just turn up at Boardwalk car park - you'll have to show a photo ID at the gate. Tell them you're visiting the hotels and eating at one of the restauraunts and you can park there and walk through. It's a lovely place to visit and a great way to get away from Epcot at the end of the illuminations. :d:

They're understandably not keen on you parking at the Boardwalk into order to visit Epcot for the whole day though.

Agreed, I would imagine if you turned up at 9.00 am, when there's very little going on at Boardwalk, they may place a time restriction on you.

I think you can pay to valet park at the resort which would mean you could stay there all day, no time restriction. Other than that I think there is a time limit, obviously to prevent people avoiding the park's car parking charge.

Thanks - this is really handy info for me. We were planning on going to WSC after lunch time - just for WSC not Epcot and we were going to go to the Boardwalk to ESPN for our evening meal before we watch Illuminations - parking at boardwalk would be brilliant and save us that scramble to bet out afterwards!!
