According to the theme park insider,Disney are at present installing
New Finger Scanning machines, these will take a finger print, and compare
this on each visit with the print taken on the first visit that the ticket is
used on.

when we were there last week we had to have our 2 fingers scanned. I asked why and was told that disney say we have to! also we had to sign the back of our disney passes.. i suppose this is so you cant share your pass with anyone else

The system doesn't work in any of the parks. Most of the time they just let you in anyway, all they do is create a queue.

I think James means they are upgrading the system to one that works.

Theyt are in process of replacing the two finger machines with one finger ones. Don't know the details (and I believe there is a legal issue stopping it being fingerprints) but am told it is more reliable (ie faster).

we came across both single and double finger scanners. we have never seen anyone let through due to the ques being to long, the two finger scanners do not do your print the measure and compare the size of the two fingers. the single finger do work as me and DS got our tickets mixed up and they didnt work so we swapped and they work then.

If you look at www.local6.com you will see a video link showing the
new machines in operation.

Hated the two finger ones (wanted to do that to them most of the time) I have tiny fingers and every time we went in, it was "push them further forward please" and it hurt!

We kept swapping tickets last year (for a laugh)... Never stopped us once!!

I think its all for show myself.

Let me clarify, we used both the 2 finger and the single finger ones and both are as useless as each other.

I apologise if anyone thought they were letting in people because the queues were too long. What I meant was, the scanning process causes queues because it doesn't work. After you have tried it 4 or 5 times without success they just let you in, the whole thing is a farce. Just to clarify it happened at AK, MK, MGM, Epcot, Universal, IOA, Seaworld & Busch it wasn't an isolated thing. We visited the parks 13 times and I think it worked twice.

how I agree with soozicue! I would walk up to the gates and dread putting my fingers in (oh er misses) it hurts right at the crease where the two fingers meet - the CM's dont help with their encouraging - push it! push it!!

I personally think the machines are cr*p too. I was in charge of tickets for a party of 8 after BIL forgot his ticket once and me being ever so organised decided it best to keep everyone's together. Anyway, I just handed tickets out, I didn't whose was whose and I don't think it made any difference. We never had any problems getting in and I know for a fact that I was using different tickets because of the pictures on them.

I found a ticket the other day which had my photo on it, must've been circa. 1991 lol...what a sight I was then.

What would happen if you refused to let them scan your finger? :erm: Surely they wouldn't turn you away!!

it is nothing to do with the length of your fingers as DD works hers fine and has tiny fingers .. it is how you put them in.. you used to be able to see the lights that need to go out and move your fingers accordingly, but for some unknown reason they turned them around so you are just working blind..
the CMs are wrong in telling you to push further in .what they should say is put your fingers closer together.. that is what the problem is....gee you could be pushing all day forward and not put the light s out ..ouch!!
