When me and DH have been to epcot in the past we usually do the rides etc then have a quick walk around the world but would like to spend a little more time there this time.

What exactly is a segway tour, I have tried to search on here but not really found much detail, would it be suitable for 2 children 8 and 11 or is it aimed at adults?

And what is it, if anyone has done it recently i would be grateful of any advice.

Have a look on the Disney website. I think you have to be over a certain age. You get an hours tuition and then, if the weather's OK, an hour wizzing round the world showcase.

The Segway tour is stricly for over 16s. DD and her Dad are doing it in a few weeks, so will report back.
The tour is called 'Around the World on a Segway' and is 2 hours long. The first part is instruction and practice indoors, the second is out and about in World Showcase. We have seen CMs on segways a few times and they look like great fun.

My DH and DS did this 2 weeks today since and both agreed it was a highlight of the holiday. Well worth the $80 per person

I'm really looking forward to our segway adventure next month.

Can't find a bad word about it.

Edit:::and a little report on it HERE (http://www.allearsnet.com/btp/tour_seg1.htm)

I went on the segways in the Innoventions building in Epcot. It was great fun but I didnt find them very easy to manoeuvre. I would love to do the tour but Im afraid there would be a lot of injured WDW guests!

We've done it twice now and think it's well worth the money. You can find out a little bit more in our Trip Report - Day 9 (http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=112212)

I so want to do that! Do you need to book well in advance do you think?

It is amazing, the problem is you want to buy one and at about £3,500 each and the fact you can't use them over here it's a bit of a non starter!

To be honest it depends on the time of year you want to do it and how many in your group. There was 7 of us last time so we did book well in advance. However the year before when there was just the 2 of us I think we booked a couple of weeks before. It's very handy if you can say to them when can you fit me in during this 2 week period!

Have you seen the kids ones called Dareway (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000FDTO2W/ref=pd_sl_aw_aiw-2_toy_18729769_2)

smilebehappy - No unfortunately it's a telephone thing. Not sure of the number though but it's the standard disney central reservations.

Sue - I think I'm a little on the big side for that one but don't tempt me!
