View Full Version : Some great TV shows about our favourite place in the World...

The following videos have been hosted in response to another thread in this forum about how you can get to see all those great TV shows about our favourite vacation destination. So here are a few links to some excellent videos that I know you will enjoy! I promise you that they will either help you with your current trip planning, or else send you straight down to the travel agent to book another trip!

These are mostly in 'DivX' format, so the quality is pretty good for not-too-massive filesizes (between 175MB and 350MB per video - or between 5 and 15 minutes per file if you've got a decent broadband connection). I'd suggest you right-click on the links and save the files to your own PC to watch, rather than trying to view them live. If you can't play DivX files just go to www.divx.com (http://www.divx.com) and download the free codec and/or player to your PC.

Please bear in mind that the hoster of these videos is doing so out of the kindness of his heart to help fellow DIBBers, so please DO NOT post any links outside of the DIBB to these files or he will have to take the videos off his server if the bandwidth gets swamped.

Anyway, here are the first few links which cover Food in our favourite place (yuummmmm!) and also some of the deluxe hotels you can find on-site:

And some more shows... this time general documentaries about that great place we all love in Florida - including staying there at Christmas time - plus one about taking a trip on those gorgeous big Mickey boats to Castaway Cay! These files are all about 350MB.

OK, next batch. These aren't directly about the parks, but are more about the people who made the Disney company the success it is - key animators, musicians, imagineers, showpeople, etc. Each show is about 27 minutes long and they vary in size but are around 250MB.

And here's some more videos! Including some great TV shows of the original opening celebrations, plus Paris too this time. And some nice Christmas Day Parade shows too, just in time for... erm... Haloween...

Be warned, there are some quite big file sizes for some of these - several in the 600MB region - but they're worth it, though. Get downloading!

Is anyone else having quite a slow download on these files? I have started downloading the first one and it is taking about 50 mins. Downloading at about 50 kB/ps. I am on a broadband connection on a high spec laptop so do not think it is at my end.

Thanks

Thanks Andre, I have just watched the food program and I thought it was great. Do you know if I copy the files to a DVD would we be able to watch on the telly? I'd just like to show my mum and I'd rather not show her on the laptop if it's possible.

I test downloaded one and got about 400K/s earlier today (4 Mbit broadband connection at this end). A 170MB file took about 8 mins to download. Maybe too many people are trying at once...?

Unless you have access to a DVD player that plays DivX files (there are quite a few around) you'll need to use a program that will create a normal Video DVD from the files - such as NeroVision.

The crazy thing here, is that the cheaper the DVD player the more likely it is to play files from the internet :confused2

Really.

Depending on your provider, they might limit traffic for various reasons.

Those reasons normally selfishness on their part =)

Who are you with?

I've just added another batch of videos, please see the third message in this thread for details. They aren't directly about the parks, but are more about the people who made the Disney company the success it is - key animators, musicians, imagineers, showpeople, etc. Great viewing if you're into the history of Disney. Ward Kimball's backyard railroad is fabulous! Sadly, a lot of these people are no longer with us. :(

Maybe not the whole Polynesian, but click here (http://www.andyjpartridge.com/Videos/Food - Family Dining - Poly Ohana (pdtv xvid bcx).avi) for a short segment on Ohana and the food there.

Andre, these videos are proving most expensive!!! My DH and I are watching one or two each evening (sat in the office watching the laptop!) and are now planning the biggest and best ever next trip to WDW! We watched the Yacht and Beach one last night, and have never really fancied it, but are now thinking we need to spend a few nights there. I'm not sure I can afford to watch the Grand Floridian one - lol!

Techy Question:
If I watch one by clicking rather than saving (which I did by mistake), will the file be in my temporary folders somewhere? I want to retreive it and I'd rather not redownload it if I don't need too.

Glad you're all enjoying these files. Do you want some more?

It may be in the "temporary internet files" folder. Click on Internet Options in the Tools menu in Internet Explorer. Then click on Settings in the Temporary Internet Files section. Then click on View Files. Sort them by size, so the biggest files are at the top, and you may find it.

I think if it is cached, and you then try to get the file again by clicking on Save, it may just save the cached version anyway.

Try visiting www.divx.com and downloading the codec =)

Andre
6 Oct 06, 07:01 AM
That's not bad, nearly two weeks before someone had a problem of not having the right codec. I was worried there might be a lot more people who don't have the DivX codec installed. Obviously we've got a computer-savvy bunch here on the DIBB.

As Andy has said, just download and install the DivX codec from their website, it's really painless, and then any DivX format videos will play on your PC. A lot of newer DVD players also support the DivX format now, so you might even be able to burn the files onto a disc and then watch them on the TV.

I just watched the Opening Ceremony one from when they first opened MK. Wow. It gave me that goosebumpy feeling and it reminded me that there used to be cable cars there and amazing to see what rides are still there today.

Mega wonderful.

Thanks for posting these.
