Hi Guys
Haven't posted on here in AGES!
We are planning a trip to Disney Paris in November and only need the hotel as I was lucky enough to win the flights!
We are thinking of staying on site but want to keep costs down... We have found a great rate for the Explorers hotel at £330 for 3 nights including passes.
This is compared to the Sequioa Lodge at £400 including passes.
Is it worth paying the extra for the on site hotel?
What sort of standard is Explorers? Does anyone know the star rating for example? (I know that Sequioa Lodge is 3 star)
Any other advice you can offer on purchsing just the hotels and tickets only?
Thanks for all your help. :thumbs-up

Hi, My mum and Dad came back this morning with the grandkids they stayed at the Explorers they said Disney was great biut the hotel took the edge off of it, messing around with buses, the rooms were very basic, and all the restaurants in the actual hotel served terrible food (hotdogs, panninis etc) She said she wish she had of stayed onsite.
We stayed at the disneyland hotel in March and it was great having the convenience of being able to nip back to the hotel mid afternoon etc, been near all the restaurants and no messing with buses.
We did originally book the New York hotel but got a free upgrade although i would be happy to stay in the New York or the Newport if i went again.
My parents in Law stayed at the Sequioa lodge and they didnt rate that either said the rooms were basic and it was too far out and if they went again they would go in the better ones.
So if you dont intend on spending much time in your hotel go for the basic one but if you like a bit of comfort/luxury it is worth the upgrade.
Have you tried the disneyland paris website for hotel and ticket prices?
And congratulations on winning the flights.
Claire :)
We've stayed in the Explorer's and it was very basic (I think 2-3 *) for the price you pay. Have you considered the other hotels nearby like the Holiday Inn, Dreamcastle or the new Radisson?
We've also stayed in the Newport Bay Club which was nice but would be more pricey than any of the above.
We bought our tickets from the Disney Store in the end as the difference in price compared to internet companies issuing REAL tickets (not vouchers) was negligible really.
Hope this helps! :thumbs-up When are you going in November as all the Xmassy stuff starts around the 11th?:santasmil :snow_cool

Thanks for the advice
Explorers doesn't sound like a good option and I have now been put off the Sequoia Lodge. Maybe we should push the boat out and go for the New York Hotel?
Food for thought..... Thanks again.

I've stayed at the offsite Holiday Inn (was VERY near the Santa Fe though, and much nicer ;-) It was was a lovely hotel with a circus theme.. I'd definitely stay there again if staying onsite would cost loads more (we went peak season summer so it was at the time) I've also stayed at The Cheyenne which was nice, better theming than SF for not much more ££. We went off-season that time so it was cheaper to stay at one of the value hotels onsite than off. The breakfast was actually better at the Holiday Inn though, but good enough for us and you could purchase hot food like scrambled eggs separately if you wanted. The mid-range ones looked nice but were a bit pricey for us for a budget trip.
Don't be put off Explorers - I have read some good reports for this hotel - but it appears to be very family orientated - so chances are it'll be full of loud excited children (and apparently the pool area is vey busy) - for the amount of time you will spend there it just depends whether you can put up with 'basic' or fancy paying a bit more
As for Sequoia - my sister stayed there and was very happy with the standard
Santa Fe on the other hand was just ok - rooms were fairly basic, resturaunt was absolute pandamonium at breakfast time - a real cattle market - granted though you could walk to the park with relative ease (about 20 mins)
Have a great trip!
I haven't stayed in any of the mentioned hotels, but staying onsite is worth a few extra pounds for the Disney Magic of it I feel.
...and the practical reasons of being able to walk to the parks and the Village.
Enjoy your visit!
We have stayed at the Holiday Inn and the Cheyenne. The Holiday Inn is a much nicer hotel in terms of *s, not sure if it would be a 3 or 4 * but it had nice restaurant, swimming pool etc and the rooms were much more upmarket.
The Cheyenne was fabulously themed, it is the best themed hotel I've seen, you really did feel you were in the Wild West walking through the grounds. The rooms are quite small with bunk beds, and the restaurant is not as nice as the Holiday Inn but you can walk to the parks quite easily. I would stay at either quite happily. If the price were the same I would choose the Cheyenne for the ease of walking, but if I could save a few pounds then I'd be more than happy with the Holiday Inn.
You can book the Holiday Inn directly on their website (room only) and buy tickets at the gate, this saved us a lot (we bought APs they are the same prices as 3 day hoppers and give food and shopping discounts)
There's nothing wrong with the Sequoia Lodge. It may not be 4-star deluxe, but it's very pleasant and nicely laid out. Lovely roaring fire in the lobby - very relaxing to sit in the bar there. And Disney characters there for photos & autographs daily too. The rooms are themed after a hunting lodge style so are fairly basic in terms of decor maybe, but they've got all the same essentials that other Disney mid-range hotels provide. Comfortable and warm, which is what counts after a day at the park in November! It's also a very short walk over to Disney Village for evening entertainment, and is also easy to get back to from the parks if you want a break.
Try to get a room in the main building if you can, less walking in possibly poorer weather. Normally that sort of room, and lake view especially, costs extra - but in November they're not going to be exactly full and it won't hurt to ask when you check in.

I really liked Sequoia Lodge when we visited. We had a meal there which I thought was lovely and from the pics I think the rooms look nice. It is so great to be able to walk just 5 mins to get to Disney Village and then to the parks. Great to be able to pop back to the room and then off again. Onsite gives you the magic of Disney without the worry of transport.
