How would one book Dine with Shamu?

How much does it cost per adult?

Do you need to book far in advance?

Any advice would be appreciated,
Thanks,
H.

Hello,

We have just booked for 9th November, you can book online at www.seaworld.com (go to dining) and you have to pay in advance. It's $37 per adult.

 Hi Hayley!

My DF did this for me last year and booked it at seaworld for later that week so you will need to book in advance If you intend on visiting Seaworld more than once then book it on your first trip.

I will say that I hope it has improved since we went I was really really disappointed:( I adore Orcas (killer whales) and I had seen the show and I just couldnt help but cry as it ment such a lot to me to see one so close up so DF organised it for us to Dine with shamu!

I was so excited we watched the main show again before we went to the dining area and were seated at a super table right next to the bit out of the water that they slide on their bellys on. The gates opened at 5 we were seated and told it was all you can eat and drink so we began with a pitcher of coke and headed for the buffet this i must say was quite yummy they seemed to have something for everyone we sat back down and the "interaction" started at 5.30 - the trainer spoke a little about the training and sent shamu round a few times and then at 5.40 said thank you very much we hope you enjoyed the interaction and the gates opened -:omg: I was so shocked that we sat there expecting him to say only kidding and carry on - but no we were all ushered out! 40minutes and 10 minutes with shamu - I really did think i felt closer in the front row of the main show than the Dine with experience - I really hope that they have improved it as I think it could be something really amazing and i just hope maybe we caught it on a bad day!

If you need to know anything Hayley do ask and i hope you didnt think i was bringing complete negativity :) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks Kirstie - don't worry about being negative - you're entitled to your view. And, honesty is what the DIBB is all about.

Shame about the timing - I'd feel short-changed with only 40 minutes - esp if only 10 mins of that was interactive.

$37 isn't a huge cost, but I would expect not to feel like herded cattle for that price.

Hayley, yes thats how i felt I think DF paid $45.00 last year each - Im sure and I hope it was a bad one off but i really was upset that the interaction was just 10minutes and taht i found the show more informative really. Do give it a go but also have a look on the seaworld site as they have some great tours taht i didnt even know they did too for good value too! DF loves penguins so ive organised a surprise where he can touch a penguin!! lol - a 27 yr old lad going gaga over a penguin its great xxx

We had a great experience. Our "dine" was at 3pm and we had about 30 minutes where the whales were just swimming around then the trainer started the interaction. She gave us a talk and explained quite a bit about them - this probably lasted another 30 + minutes. You could then go and ask the trainer questions. Even when the interaction was over the whales were still swimming around.

we loved it in april, especaily since the shamu show was awfull as it was small clips of the rehersals for believe. we were so dissapointed and the dine with shamu really made up for it. yes it is not that long but you get so close to these wonderfull creatures and the food is brill. well worth it would do it again if we ever save enough to go back !!!

We done the penguin tour this year and it was great:spin:

You get taken behind the scenes and see lots of other animals as

well and at the end you go into the penguin enclosure and a member

of staff lifts a penguin out and sits it on there knee for you to have a touch

and you can also take photos.

Well worth the $16,we done our tour on the afternoon when it was hot

and it cooled us down lovely.

Also you do the tour in groups,i think it was between 10 - 15 people.

I booked ours over the phone a received confirmation through the post.

Hope thats helped in making you desicion.:wavey:

I have just booked the Penguin fondling thing for next month. It is officially called the "polar expedition tour" and you can find details on their website - I think it is under animal encounters. I emailed them to book and gave my telephone number and a good time to call and a woman rang me back within the hour and sorted it all out. It only cost me $10 each whereas the website says it costs $16 so thought this was a bargain. Confirmation is being forwarde by post. We also have Dine with Shamu booked so I can advise on whether it was a "one off bad experience " on my return. :wavey:

If you look at the Dining tab at the top of each page, in the drop down menu under Seaworld there are a few reviews of other people's experiences as well as info on how to book etc.

I was really impressed with Dine with Shamu. We phone up and booked 2 days in advance and there were places available but the people who turned up at the time were sent away if they hadn't booked.

We arrived and got seated. There was water and fruit punch on the table, big iced jugs which was great as it was a very hot day.
We were told we could go straight for the buffet, the waiter came along and got Dave a cold bud and me one of those fruity alchholic Peels things that they have at DC, yummy. He kept coming back with more and I think we had 4 each plus iced soft drinks.
All this time the whales were swimming around, we had 2 Taioma and Telecom. They were playing and coming up quite close.
Once we had pretty much finished eating the trainer starting talking and playing with the whales, getting them to do tricks etc. Our waiter was great and was telling us where to stand to get great photos, he got it right every time.
We were so glad we did it as the baby whale had been born and there was no believe show.

plus the interaction lasted 30 minutes at least, plus the whales swan around before and after. We weren't herded in and out at all. Guess it must change?? This was only 2 weeks aho btw
