Hi:wave:
Me and dh are planning 3/4 nights in Las Vegas next year and as neither of us have ever been would appreciate some hotel recommendations:grin:
I quite fancy the Bellagio or the new Wynn hotel, Venetian:tounge: but dh thinks we should stay somewhere cheaper and put the money towards some good shows instead:erm:
Any advice would be a great help:thumbs-up
Thanks Pink Princess:tinkani:
We stayed in Excalibur which was good. Close to Luxor, mandalay Bay and a good base for exploring. The Venetian looked fantastic though!
We are working our way up to Bellagio/Wynn/Venetian! We've stayed at Luxor and Monte Carlo - Luxor was good for first timers but is quite a long way south on the strip, Monte Carlo is just a little bit further north and almost central strip. We like to walk everywhere so location meant quite a lot to us. I thought Luxor was a good intro to what Las Vegas was all about - larger than life, over the top, a bit tacky, good gambling. Monte Carlo was a bit more subtle and IMHO slightly nicer hotel. If you go at the right time of year you can get a good price on the top hotels (late August I think is v. good). Personally I'd sit on the fence and go for a mid-price hotel as close to centre strip as possible. If you're going to be out exploring all day (and we certainly were) then paying top dollar for your room to sleep in seems a bit of a waste. I know you get a nice swimming pool and it's a bit more than 'just sleeping in' but costs can be double/triple mid-price hotels. You can always spend all day in the Bellagio/Wynn/Venetian anyway then just stroll back to your hotel to kip!

weve stayed in Luxor, Treasure Island and Mandalay bay. personally I loved Mandalay Bay(could be because we got a free upgrade to a suite!). It has some lovely pools, and if you watch the "Las Vegas" programme on the TV, they use these pools for the programme.
Were currently planning our 2007 trip and have decided to fly into Vegas again(although im not to struck on the place). We will have a couple of days here before a 3 week driving trip. I think weve all decided that Mandalay bay is the hotel for us.
Bellagio and Venetian are nice(had a walk round), but at the end of the day were either in the pool or out so the room doesnt get much use.
Either way i think if youre on the strip they are all nice.

We stayed in the "bargain bucket" Circus Circus. It was fine as we only wanted somewhere to rest our heads - rooms were clean and spacious.
We visited all the hotels on the strip and I thought that Aladdin looked very nice. The Luxor was at the top end of the strip, but it seemed very dark and gloomy inside.
Have you tried the holidays-uncovered.org.uk and holiday-truth.com websites, they have many many hotel reviews.

I have stayed at the Monte Carlo and it was very nice and in just about the best location. It is situated in the middle of the strip with easy access to the other hotels and all the entertainment.
The cheaper options like the Stratosphere and Circus, Circus are right down the end of the strip and a long way from the main action. I have n't stayed there but I know people who have and they weren't impressed.
Personally I would stick to the hotels in the middle of the strip. The Venetian is gorgeous as is the Bellagio, Caesars Palace and MGM Grand. New York, New York, Alladdin and Paris are also really nice.
Good luck :D

I stayed in the Bellagio in March for 3 nights, and as long as its not over a weekend you may be suprised at the price it worked out cheaper than our 3 nights in a 3 star in New york the first half of the trip, after a bit of negotiation with airline network and travel dates they got us the Bellagio at a good rate, its often worth being flexible over dates as in Vegas it seemed to be a case of supply and demand where prices are concerned.
If you want central strip and good views across the strip I would look at the Aladin and the Paris(who had a very good buffet) and views across the the bellagio fountains. Although the Wynn is the newest it also seems to be a bit out of the action we went for a walk to have a look around and thought the ferrais in the entrance were great we foetwe had made a better choice with the bellagio.
We stayed at the Aladdin in June, Its being rebranded as a Planet Hollywood resort at the moment, We thought it was very nice and its in a great location mid strip directly opposite the Bellagio foountains!
Its public areas are not as flash as the Bellagio, but its still very nice and our free room upgrade to a deluxe roomcertainly helped!!.

Another vote for Aladdin.
Underneath the hotel is a complete shopping area:grin:
We stayed at the Venetian and it was fabulous ! In my opinion the hotel is all part of the experience , i would go for it if you can .

As long as you stay at one of the "premium" hotels I don't think you will be disapointed;)
