hi
the church street area is a bit of a no go area now especially down by the public library. we wandered away from lake eola to orange avenue which was great then saw in the distance church street dome. walked towards it, called in the library to buy some paper backs then headed towards church street. i don't know if i was looking particularly frazzled but was offered a line of coke by one of the dossers that live under the I4 flyover!

I think the problem is that a lot of people use the phrase Church Street or Orange Avenue meaning the downtown nightlife and not what we once knew Church Street to be.

Orange Avenue and Church Street are where a lot of the night clubs are.

I will say that the Lake Eola area is going through some growing pains and with the massive redevlopement that is taking place downtown a lot of the homeless are going to that area by large numbers. This has been on the local news a lot lately.

There are still a few nightclubs around there, incl Paris Hiltons club, theres some renovation being done as well but as Andy said PI and Citywalk took their business although the locals will tell u its the place to be on New Years Eve

one of my first magnets of my collection of orlando magnets was from lilly marlenes, it was a great place. we used to go to church street a lot.there was plenty for everyone. my son aged 12 used to love watching the "silver meteor} night train go through and then we used to get a carriage ride round lake eola. ah the good old days!:)

How nice! Someone remembers Lilly Marlenes I was gutted when I went back and found out it was no longer there! Does anyone know why it shut down?? I think I might do a petition 'Bring back Lilly Marlenes' LOL!!

Opposite Lilly Marlenes, there was a stall that wrote your name on a piece of rice then put it in a necklace, all the good memories just come flooding back!! I remember this place the most from my first trip to Florida.
