Hi Guys,
DH and I are staying in Animal Kingdom Lodge for 2 weeks next May - it's our first stay at a Disney Resort Hotel ... so wondered if people could advise us on what to do for meals and entertainment (in the evening) and stuff.
We're not driving ...
Thanks
Love

AKL has Boma and Jiko both excellent dining choices as well as a food court. There is also in-room dining available. Buses will run to Downtown Disney from AKL for dining and evening entertainment until late and to the other parks until an hour after closing. You could take a taxi to eat at another resort or offsite.
AKL has some organised activities such as night viewings of the animals with a keeper to answer questions and storytelling around the firepit.

This time for our first night at AKL we booked dinner at Boma a couple of weeks before we left the Uk. This turned out to be a good plan as we did not have to travel out of the hotel, and a good introduction to dining at disney.
As for the rest of the time we tended to spend nights in the theme parks or at DTD and not to be missed Boardwalk, unfortunely I am one of those people who never gets used to the time difference to Im ready for back to the hotel by 11 pm but Im sure that you will fnd lots of stuff to do, plus AKL has the best pool bar with some great margarittas.

Thanks for your help - how easy is it to get in touch with Animal Kingdom to book a table for Boma??
To book Boma look at the top of the lists (Dining) and see how to book an ADR.
Others have mentioned Jiko but
There is also Mara which is a self service restaurant (I thought it a bit canteen like) its located near the pool. You do not book for Mara.
Buses from the AKL to other disney places are frequent (AKL is a bit far from most othe places but only 5 mins from AK where there are restaurants including Rainforest Cafe which is just outside the AK gates near wher the buses drop you off.)

Boma at AKL is fantastic, make ADR's for a few meals for whilst you're there.
Jiko's supposed ot be lovely too, haven't eaten there myself though.
