Hi

I bought prescription glasses at Lenscrafters in the Florida Mall in July (due to loosing my glasses)

They had some lovely designer sunglasses but they are not any cheaper than here.

I was $500 for Chanel single lens glasses.

We just asked our optition this last week and he said some customers of his get them in the USA because they can get them done loads cheaper than here.

I tried a couple of places a few years ago and they where as vague about the prices as our opticians used to be here, but they didn't seem cheap. They also didn't generally seem to do the 1hr service that you can here.

I have seen comments that Costco or Walmart are reasonable, but I think Costco aren't too bad in the UK (if you can get membership).

I've seen some i like here but at £200 my dh is saying it's not sunny enough anymore lol :nonono: Bad husband ! I didn't think that was a bad price ?

I have some lovely Morgan frames made up with those lenses that react to light and are anti-reflection. OK they don't go as dark as full sunglasses but I find them great (only need them for reading anyway) - £150 all in from my local one-man band optician.

Yeah i have some like that but i find them very temperamental i have to hold them up to the sunlight :confused2 And as the frames are small i look like ozzy osbourne :pgig: I want some big framed sunglasses if you know what i mean . I am long sighted and don't need them too much but in my old age my eyesight is worsening and it is driving i find i will need them the most hence the sunglasses . Thanks guys for all your advice i appreciate it . All ideas very welcome :D

Ive just returned from Cape Cod where I unfortunately broke my glasses. I went to Lenscrafters in Hyannis with my broken ones and they made me a new pair by examining my broken ones and calculating the prescription from them! Done in 1 hour and half the price of British ones!

I have special lenses which I have thinned down.

I would thoroughly recommend Lenscrafters for service and value for money!:thumbs-up

I find they hide my ugly mush nicely thanks :pgig: I just can't stand small sunglasses that when you look up and down you lose the lens in your line of sight ( hope that makes sense :confused2 ) :cool2:
Thanks Jan i will have a search :D
