Just after a bit of advice...

How scary is the new Everest ride at AK?
I dont particually like the scary rides, but feel i should have a try.:confused2

In previous years i have forced myself to ride Space mountain and the Mummy ride at Universal, and came off both, shaking and with instant btuise from holding on so tight!! I was glad i done them, but dont really want to do them again, especially the Mummy ride.

Is Everest worse than the Mummy Ride?

I think i have scared myself further by looking at the videos on MyTube!

All advice welcomed

Hi - I am a bit of a scaredy cat when it comes to rides - I won't go on Kraken, The Hulk, Duelling Dragons etc but will go on the Mummy, Rock N Roll etc and went on Everest. I loved it - I found the worst bit was a sheer drop in the dark where my language went a bit ripe!

What I did with The Mummy was to go on first and spent most of the time with my eyes shut then went on again with them open!!!! I found that Everest was about the same level as The Mummy. You just can't go to AK without going on it! But I would advise to get Fast Passes early tho' as when we went at Easter we got FP's for it for about 11 then loved it so much we went to get them again and they were for 6!

I didn't find Everest to be as bad as the Mummy ride. Most of it is a bit like Thunder Mountain but with a few twists, like going backwards and a drop at the end like Splash Mountain but without the splash. The last drop looks fearsome, but it's actually quite smooth.

Its very much like Big Thunder Mountain, though a bit faster, and like Jal said, it's got a bit going backwards. We didn't find it as 'scary' as the Mummy, although that was great too - we went on it 8 times in a row!:)

Hi, Havent been on The Mummy so i cant compare, but i agree with the above comments-similar to Big Thunder Mountain with a couple of exceptions:
1. Its quicker
2. It goes backwards in the dark and;
3. It has a big drop very similar to Splash Mountain.
All in all very fun and deffo worth going on!

We got back yesterday. I'm not a rollercoaster person but did Rock 'n' Roller twice on the trot, loved The Mummy (did it 2 consecutive days) but nothing would persuade me to go back on Everest. DH knew when we were on it that I would never go back on it again. DH and both the boys (11 & 9) absolutley loved it.

Must say, we were disappointed with Everest. We'd read all the hype & watched the prog on TV about it, so were really looking forward to it. Its a very short ride. The cave bits may be scary, but the actual roller-coaster was pretty tame, we thought. Much preferred Thunder Mountain & Space Mountain. Also thought the Mummy was better, but thats another short ride.

We obviously missed something coz every one else raves about Everest.

Everest is not that bad, not scary at all really, the roller coaster part is just like thunder mountain but a bit higher and goes backward for a part. The bits inside might be scary for children but i'm sure you will love it nothing like as scary as the Mummy ride.

I am a total scaredy cat and I did Everest more than once, it's not that bad and probably quite tame for coaster fans. It all depends what scares you. It has more twists and turns and more backwards bits than the Mummy and the big drop is much higher. For me it is scarier than the Mummy only because of the lift hill and the big drop being outside and totally open to the air as I'm terrified of heights.
The best policy is to get a Fastpass so you don't spend ages in line getting more and more scared the first time, it is also scarier in the front as you can see more of what's coming. Do try waiting in the standby line too as the detail in the queue area is amazing.
