I thought I’d show you a few pics of some of the treats we sampled on our visit to the 11th (our 5th) EPCOT Food and Wine Festival.

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h277/Suzyfoodpics/2006/Oct%202006/Disney_Oct06_EP_004.jpg

Italy served an Aubergine, Penne, Tomato and Ricotta Timbale which Paul enjoyed and I had some sausage pizza that okay but would have been nicer if it was hot.

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h277/Suzyfoodpics/2006/Oct%202006/Disney_Oct06_EP_072.jpg

Veggie curry from India was tasty but a very small portion Paul thought. There were about three teaspoons of rice in the bottom of the cup and it wasn’t Basmati.

From USA the Maine Lobster Salad Roll was good, but a whopping $6.50! Good use of a snack credit ;)

The colours look a bit insipid, but in fact this Meze plate from Turkey was really delicious and at $2.50 proved to be one of the best bargains to be had. There was aubergine hummus, red lentil salad and spicy chicken salad with some crispy Pita chips.

Chinese Chicken Sha Cha is an absolute ‘must have’ every year for me, as are the grilled lamb chops.

We attended a few of the more serious wine seminars at the Festival Hall and sampled lots of beers and wines around World Showcase. As usual Paul soon bonded with the ladies from the Australian Wine Walkabout.

The Sam Adams beer tasting was quite informative

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h277/Suzyfoodpics/2006/Oct%202006/Disney_Oct06_EP_161.jpg

But we thought the one at the Rose and Crown was particularly good. Make sure you turn up for your tickets earlier than the advertised time – they go fast as they are quite generous with the free beer at this one.
We were just in time to snag the last two!

Great foodie pics as usual  I'd love it if DH and I could go to the food festival at Epcot one year. We'll live in hope for now!

Seeing as it's almost Food and Wine Festival time again, I thought I'd post the rest of the piccies from last year's offerings. :)

We met up with Bob, Dawn and their friend Claudia at the UK garden – a good place to meet I always think, as whoever gets there first can chill out with a snifter from the nearby pub whilst watching the British Invasion.
It was terrific to see each other again and after lots of hugs and very predictably, much chatter about where we’d all been eating over the last few days, Bob and Paul went off to the Rose and Crown to get some drinkies whilst we girls found a quiet bench for a cosy chat.
The lads had a beer and we had white wine - Pinot Grigio this time as they’d apparently run out of Chardonnay. (They still had none a week later; I was forced to drink Gin and Tonic!)

I’ll try my best to report our evening in sequence, but I know you’ll understand if I get a tad muddled. ;)
Bob and I took the lead and researched quite a few samples of wine but neither of us can recollect exactly what we had, or in what order they were consumed ;)
I can though recall that my favourite wines overall were the Bodegas Salantein Chardonnay from Argentina and the Mission Hill Chardonnay from Canada.

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h277/Suzyfoodpics/2006/Oct%202006/Disney_Oct06_EP_189.jpg

We began our tour with Canada, where Bob kicked off the feasting with some of the famed Cheddar Cheese Soup.
We then moved on to Greece for Spanokopita. A veggie pastry filled with spinach and cheese.

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h277/Suzyfoodpics/2006/Oct%202006/Disney_Oct06_EP_094.jpg

Lamb Slider from New Zealand. Slices of roast lamb with mustard sauce on a brioche roll. Bob also enjoyed some seafood and scallop salad which he thought nice but a rather minuscule portion.

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h277/Suzyfoodpics/2006/Oct%202006/Disney_Oct06_EP_101.jpg

Next up was Mexico and Chicken Chilaquiles and Chicken/Chorizo Quesadillas

Bob tried some Porotas Granados – a vegetarian bean stew from Chile. Paul liked it last year, but it wasn’t the same recipe as before and nobody was too impressed.
Thai veggie curry with lemon grass and jasmine rice was up next.

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h277/Suzyfoodpics/2006/Oct%202006/Disney_Oct06_EP_047.jpg

South Africa served up some delicious Durban Chicken. This too was very popular with us.

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h277/Suzyfoodpics/2006/Oct%202006/Disney_Oct06_EP_117.jpg

The aroma of those luscious Lamb Chops basted with Caramelised Onions from Australia quickly lured us in and Bob was soon engaged in negotiations with his fistful of dollars.

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h277/Suzyfoodpics/2006/Oct%202006/Disney_Oct06_EP_122.jpg

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h277/Suzyfoodpics/2006/Oct%202006/Disney_Oct06_EP_121.jpg

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h277/Suzyfoodpics/2006/Oct%202006/Disney_Oct06_EP_123.jpg

Bob also ordered Beef Skewers and Shrimp on the Barbie!
The girls had some White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Tart.
We all know our Dawn’s really a dessert diva, but I think she was just about to discover how much she loved the lamb chops here – Bob had to wrestle them away from her. What was left of them anyway!

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h277/Suzyfoodpics/2006/Oct%202006/Disney_Oct06_EP_126.jpg

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h277/Suzyfoodpics/2006/Oct%202006/Disney_Oct06_EP_124.jpg

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h277/Suzyfoodpics/2006/Oct%202006/Disney_Oct06_EP_125.jpg

Bob was shocked and dismayed to hear that Illuminations was beginning already. We all were actually. We hadn’t made our way around the whole of World showcase yet!
There was enough time left though to sample some BBQ Pork Ribs with Grilled Sweetcorn.
The girls meanwhile quickly rushed off to France to get their chocolate crepes before the kiosk closed – they made it just in time and Dawn returned a happy bunny!

We had a really fun evening and it was far too early to say our goodbyes, so we finished off our evening with tradition, at the Bellevue Lounge. No pics for you, but I promise we were very well behaved!
