Paris - Where To Stop?

Hi There,

I am contemplating a weekend break to Paris this year, but not having been before I have no idea where to stop. I would be travelling with my partners mother and maybe his 14 year old niece too.

The sites that we would be interested in are the Eiffel Tower, Champs Elysees, art galleries, maybe a show and some fine dining. I don't really have much idea apart from these places where we could visit, or what would be on offer. We would like a moderately priced hotel in the heart of the city for not much travelling, which includes at least breakfast and maybe half board.

Any ideas from anybody who has travelled first hand would be greatly appreciated. I know nothing about Paris and would like any information that anybody may have.

Oh I forgot to include another important interest...........shopping!!! Something that all 3 of us can do very well.

Lat time we were there we stayed at the Novotel Eiffel. A lovely view over the river and a very short walk to the Eiffel Tour etc with the metro very close too. We always prefer to walk most of our way around Paris as you see so much more than on the underground.
