We've added a 3 night cruise on the Wonder on Oct 25th :grin: First time cruisers. We are at WDW for the two weeks before :grin: The cruise part is a surprise for the kids - I am planning on taking my postcard from Mickey and Minnie that I was sent when we booked and have it waiting for us when we get back from MK on our last day - can't wait to see their faces :spin: :spin:

We are going late August in a cat.6 room and while we have been 15 times never done a Disney cruise(the last one was a 10 day Princess Caribbean cruise)really looking forward going on 23 August we can save on DVC points as it takes in the weekend cost of points (BCV).Would be interested to hear comments about food and entertainment.

Just saw this Fraser - we are doing the same, cruising over the weekend to save on DVC points. We are on the same cruise as you - see you there :wavey:

The holiday sounds fab !!!!

If you want a romantic evening for you and DW then I'd have to recommend booking into Palo - a fantastic adults only restaurant. Its a small extra charge ($15) and you must book in advance ...as soon as you are 75 days from your sail date and paid up in full you can book on line - but you must do this at the first moment you are able (think it is 8am here - but someone will put you right ...I heard rummors that this may even have changes to a few hours earlier recently !). If you miss booking on line you will have to be pretty quick to get over to the reservations desk whenyou board the ship as they will also keep some reservations back.

As for the dolphins - I'll let someone else advice you on that one, its not something we've done.

I've only just come to the conclusion that a cruise is the best option!! :grin:

I was going to to fly to bahamas for one night as I didn't want to take too much time away from Florida..with it being our first time!

But the quotes are coming in now..going on 25th Oct for 3 nights, getting quotes for Disney Wonder and Carnival Sensation. Anyone heard heard of Affordable Tours.com (US Co.)

Not sure which one to go for though. DCl or Carnival? Carnival cheaper...obviously. DD(12) wants the DCL...but would be content with Carnival!! ;)

Well, I can only say you would NOT be disappointed if you spent the extra money with DCL. :d:

It may be worth getting quotes from some reputable US T/A cruise specialists such as Dreamsunlimited, Vacationstogo, Allseasons etc...you could even book with DCL direct, and then transfer to a US T/A, to get some extra on board credits , with out losing any of benefits from booking with DCL.

If you book with DCL (presuming they are the same price or cheaper than the other quotes you get) you can then transfer your booking to a T/A who are offering the best on board credits...
On board credits are $ credits, that the company will put on your on board ship account when you sail (you can't buy anything with cash on board or on Castway Cay, Disney's private island - so you must open an account) - anything from $50 to $300 depending on your length of cruise, type of cabin booked and how far out you book.
These may be spent on gifts, your bar bill, other on board expenses you may run up such as spa treatments, or put towards the tips you payat the end of the cruise.
You keep any credits DCL give you, plus all booking terms are normally exacly the same.... plus you can still access your booking on the DCL website meaning you can book excursions/ spa treatments etc in advance on their website.

we are hoping to do the Xmas cruise 2009 but will have to wait a wee while on the dates being released. I think 2008 were just released when we were away on 23rd Sep. Do you think it'll be a special itininery? or will it just be a normal East or West?

Would be nice to hear some familiar accents onboard. I think we were the only scots on the 27-30 Sept Wonder trip. Certainly weren't many people in the non- US citizens line!!!

Well I'd ignored this thread thinking it was just for 2007 cruisers, so can I bump it into 2009?

We are first timers going on the 3 night April 2-5 2009 and planning is in full swing already :)

DD will be 11.5 when we go, and has already said she wants to make new friends rather than spend her spare time with us LOL, so if anyone else is on the same cruise with pre-teens she'd love to know about it.

Hi all, please could we be added to the list ..... Oct 2nd 08 for 3 nights on the Wonder.

I had no plans to book a cruise, just had 2 weeks in Orlando planned. Then I started reading this forum in about Sept/Oct time .. big mistake!

Within weeks I had planned our first cruise, had told my family and got them to book too! There'll be my partner and I in a cat 6 (7) secret verandah room, then my 2 sisters and their partners and children and finally my mum and dad.

I have spent weeks doing our magnets and I'm really pleased with them. I didn't print them onto magnetic paper, just normal paper but I bought a roll of magnetic strip and stuck bits to each corner... weighs less than a full A4 page of magnetic paper. I've done one for each person, one for each family, then some extras for Pirates night etc. I'll take pictures of them soon and load them on here .. if anybody then wants to borrow the ideas or if they want me to personalize them to their family, I can do.

That is the cruise we have just changed to Bats.

We were in the secret verandah room last Sept and have to say it was lovely.
We are on Deck 7 this cruise but trying a inside cabin as there is just the 2 of us.

We are cruising on 10th Jan 2009 on the Magic (western). Booked a navigators verandah as we had this before and loved it.

We are cruising/meeting up with our table buddies from a previous cruise about 3 years ago that we have met up with in the parks every January since. They are from Texas and Wyoming. Who would have thought we would make friends for life on holiday eh?
