if you like you can upgrade the ticket whilst there at customer services to take into account his age difference

Hmmm, well I bought DD a ticket when she was 9 which had a few days left on it. When we returned when she was 13, I was told as we had bought the child ticket when she was a child we could still use it :). Try e-mailing Disney to ask, I think they will tell you the same and then take the e-mail with you just in case.

From what we have been told is that the ticket you select is the one appropriate to your son on the day of first use, which is a child ticket ......
Next trip will be soon enough to stump up for an adult ticket honey.
i have always heard that you buy the child ticket as he is a child when you start your holiday.
Thanks guys , will it be the same for US do you think ?

I think you will be fine, keep the receipts and a note of your first use date to prove he qualified for a child ticket then :).
Thanks everyone . I have a horrible guilty conscience ! lol

hope your not trying to cheat the system ;)
a childs ticket should be ok - afterall if you buy an annual pass you dont pay adult price even though they will be in the adult price range later that year :D

I'd buy the child ticket, because thats what you are entitled to. If you go to the parks on your childs 10th birthday, call in at the customer service desk and they will change the ticket for an adult one, and Im 99.9% certain they wont charge extra.
Taking your child to a park on the birthday is good fun. Pick up a BIRTHDAY BADGE from customer services and pin it to your child before you enter the park. You'll certainly be in for a few suprises. We did it in AK when one of our DDs turned 13 whilst we where there. Later in the day, a cast member saw the badge and summoned us to stop. He then summoned over a group of about 20 Grad Students and made them sing Happy Birthday at the top of their voices, right there in the middle of a walkway. Absolutely brilliant.
