OMG, I am so excited:jump::jump:

We have just booked online for our very first Disney Cruise, we have booked a 3 night cruise on the Disney Wonder, cat 7. This is a anniversary present to ourselves.
DD (14) is worried that there will not be anything for her to do:confused2
:spin: :spin:
So much to plan.

That's great news :mickeybou

You will have such a great time

Tell your DD not to worry - there's plenty of things for teens to do; including their own club in 'the stack'.

The only down side to the 3/4 night cruises are.... they leave you wanting more

Have a great cruise..incidentally who did you book with ? :wavey:

WhooHhoo, It is so exciting, I remember when I booked mine I was jumping around all over the place. Infact I still am:pgig: . I even notice that you will be getting off the Disney Wonder and I'll be getting on. I'm in a cat 7 also - have you booked your stateroom yet? I'm in room 7128 right at the back next to the secret verhandah and secret deck. :spin: :spin:

That's fantastic. I'd love to do a Disney Cruise one day. I think 3/4 days would be just enough for us.

We booked direct with Disney.

If you transfer your booking to Dreamsunlimited (which is really easy to do), you should get a free onboard credit (the amount of $s depends on the category you have booked and length of cruise).
You will still be able to access your booking on the DLC website, just the same as before, and book Palo / spa/ excursions / register for kids clubs etc, on there. You get to keep your stateroom and the price is the same.
Its definitely worth doing as it will pay off part of your tips bill at the end of the cruise.:thumbs-up
You may even get a gift from them waiting for you in your cabin (we had a nice cruiseship photobox containing an assortment of small gifts - nice touch).

We are getting $200 credit on our 2008, 7 night cruise.

You should still be able to transfer your booking at the price you've paid with DCL, and claim an onboard credit with them.:thumbs-up

LOL Karen, never thought of it that way ;)

I just emailed them and asked for a quote, then when I got the quote I told them I had already reserved a cruise etc and that could I transfer the booking over to DU.
I got a lovely person who happens to be called Karen and she transferred everything over for us, even commenting on the room that we have booked as it used to be a cat 5 but is now a cat 7, so she says I have got a good room.

Hope this helps.

Fab we love the cruise too.

When you say you booked direct with Disney do you mean online? Stupid question but is that part of the normal disney.co.uk site or a different one?

Its just that we are looking to go again next year and we were toying with the idea of having a look and booking when we are out there in the next few weeks. Hoping to pay dollar price you see. :cool2:

Thanks

You can book from the comfort of your own home and pay in $ using the Disney Cruise Line website (separate from both the UK & Disney websites; but I'm sure the US one at least, can redirect you to it from its site). Preferably pay with a Nationwide credit card for best possible exchange rates.

Also I recommend you look at some of the reputable US cruise specialist websites such as Dreamsunlimited , Costco, Vacations to go etc for quotes - failing that, you can always book direct with DCL, and then transfer your booking to one of the above US TAs for an onboard credit ($s to spend on board on anything you like), and still keep your reservation open and accessable on the DCL website.

Hope this helps.

Generally though, the nearer the sail date, the more you will pay for a cruise (unless you are a Florida resident that can get special discounted rates on cruises that are not full). Disney rarely, if ever discount a cruise near sail dates ...and if they do you can apply for the same price to be applied to your booking ...if you see this of course (they won't apply it automatically !).

Worth noting to that booking direct with a US TA or DCL, if you do need to cancel before final payment is due, you get a full refund of your deposit, or can transfer to another date. So best book early given the present exchange rate (provided you don't think they will rise further ;) ).

PS Also another way to get 10% off your next cruise is to rebook when you are on board the Disney ship (you can't get this after) - even if you haven't got a specific date, or it is too far in the future, and not yet available...in which case you can give them a dummy date and have this transferred later on. You do have to put a deposit down I believe though at that stage......but 10% is a pretty good deal.

We are going on a 3 night cruise in October:grin:. Weve used some of our DVC points to pay for it with cash as well to pay for Luke but no onboard credit :( . We went last year and can highly recommend it  great food, lots to do for the kids, we didnt hardly see ours (8yrs) all the cruise including meals!! I agree though that 3 nights is definately not enough and would have liked to go for a week but unfortunately not this year. One tip would be to take bottled water on board with you if you use it in the cabin as it is quite expensive on the ship and definately make a reservation for Palo it is by far the best restaurant we have been to at Disney and well worth the extra $10 service charge. Nassau was a bit of a let down and I think this time we will probably either go to see Atlantis or stay on the ship, unless you have pots of money to spend that is as it is a designer shop paradise. And the barbeque at Castaway Cay....well need I say more - paradise

Have a great time - we did and will do again.

Just interested to know who you booked with ? if it was with DCL I'm pretty sure you can still transfer to a TA and get a credit up to final payment stage.

If you haven't been before, I would thoroughly recommend the Pirate Museum, shop & pub at Nassau. It is only a short walk (5-10mins) from the boat .... it was cheap enough and well presented...... and our DS8 and DD4 loved it - and it was not so long that the kids got bored  (took about 30 -45 mins). The shop had loads of cool pirate stuff.

I wonder whether I should contact DVC to see whether I may get the $25 onboard credit, after all we are now Castaway Cay members and should get the odd perk;) Although we used our DVC points it was still $450 for Luke so have paid a bit of cash. Another tip is the beauty treatments are lovely but expensive (well worth that treat though!) but beware the hard sell for products at the end. I was warned by a colleague of my DH who used to be a beautician on board that it is expected by CM's to really push these. Spoiled it a bit really!

Anyway about to have a look at your next post about who is going this year.

We booked with DU last year but bought DVC points at Christmas and so we had some carried over from 2006 to use. We went to the Pirates Museum and yes I agree with you it was good, I loved the Pirate on the door who made comments about your watch and stuff! Although in books I read people felt unsafe I didnt get that feeling really. Apart from trying to cross the roads that is!! The guy who runs into the road blowing a whistle to help people cross needs a medal!!:d:

Great news Shell - I'm sure you'll all have a great time. We did a Carnival cruise and loved it but would like to try a Disney one. It sounds like you've got a good deal and a great room.
