i was wondering if the animal kingdom lodge hotel is suitable for kids. my ds is 14 and my dd is 6. are there good facilities for kids etc or do you think its aimed at older people and couples.
We stayed with our 2 grandchildren age 7 & 8, they absolutely loved it, they have kids club, kids TV, they also had numerous Safari games for kids, and the pool is really kid friendly with organised games. Go for it you will enjoy yourself and you kids will love every minute:wavey:

Hi, my DH & I stayed there in December. We didn't have any kids with us but we did notice that the kids at the hotel seemed to be having brilliant time. The pool is great and as other Dibbers have said there are plenty of things going on for kids to get involved in.
I would suggest that the kids should have a liking for animals as this will make their holiday even more special.
Another thing to note is that AKL is not very Disney-fied. You do feel as if you've escaped the Disney vibe at the hotel. But this can be a good or bad thing depending on what you're looking for.
Im not a kid anymore (although would Like to think I am sometimes ;)) and I dont have any kids so I dont know if my opinion really counts for much but having stayed there a couple of weeks ago I would say that AKL is perhaps a bit better for grown ups and couples particulalry -its very chilled out and me and DBF even found it quite romantic (lots of little cute areas with chairs to just sit together, hug and chill out)! The decor is lovely, although very dark - not fun and colourful like some of the other disney hotels (we still loved it though). However, the animals are amazing and there is a kids club, a huge slide on the pool, a games arcade (my 23 yr old DBF loved this too ;)) and lotsa kiddie activities available at the hotel so they won't be bored :) have fun! :) whatever you choose and have a fab holiday

I'm looking at the AKL for april 2008 and I'm wondering about a couple of things:
With AKL being at one edge of the resort, is travelling to the other parks a hassle in terms of time, and do you have a view of the animals from all of the rooms or do you need to upgrade for that?
We had our first Disney trip in May 06 to fort Wilderness with our two DSs aged 8 and 2. This was also less disneyfied than most of the others I suspect and we all liked being able to get away from the general hullabaloo. the log cabins were great with plenty of space and it was great geeting a boat to MK in the morning and being able to watch wishes from the beach in the evening
