hmm Gaz, did you know your son would be classed as an adult when you ordered the tickets, or was it a genuine mistake?

What does it actually say on the front of your free tickets? If it just says "admits one" and doesn't mention anything about it being a child's ticket then they are identical to the adult tickets anyway so anyone can use it!!

We had this same offer when we went in 2005 and wondered if there was a difference in the barcode that the entry machines at the park would pick up -but there isn't - Good Luck!!

Well, I wouldn't like to say what you should do, but we bought our disney tickets in 2002 when our youngest dd was 9 so she had a child ticket. We have since been back in 2005 when she was 12 and we never actually got round to upgrading her ticket  although I do believe it wouldn't have cost us anything extra.

Does that help? :)

Gaz - what will you tell your son to say if someone asks him his age at Universal? Will you tell him to lie? If so, good call..NOT

hi
I bought the universal tickets with the free kids tickets and have just recieved them for 3 adults 3 children 9/6/3 and on the back of the tickets it states if its a child or adult ticket. the place i bought them from said you can use them any time during 2007(i hope)

Gaz, I seem to remember that after the last time US did this offer (beg of 2006), a lot of people were abusing the system and using the child tickets for adults, therefore they changed it so that the tickets stated whether they were adult or child. Don;t know how old your son is but unless he looks 9, I personally wouldn't chance it.

With regard to 'upgrading', because the ticket was free you wouldn't be able to 'upgrade' as such as it has no cash value. Best to just bite the bullet and buy another adult ticket :)

Wilma Bride is absolutely correct. They are printed as child or adult and they cannot be upgraded. Better take some extra money in case you have to buy a ticket at the gate. And, just so you know, they don't sell that same ticket at the gate so you will be stuck buying a two day ticket for $20 more than you are paying for your tickets online. Why not save yourself some money and order a ticket for him?
