View Full Version : Loss of DIBB Fri 12 Jan
Hi,
As you may be aware we lost the DIBB server today for a period of time.
We are trying to trace the underlying cause, we know it's database related and due to way too many connections, but our system should be able to cope quite easily with the load.
We'll keep an eye on things and hopefully we can find whats causing the database to go into overdrive.
If it gets to the point where it happens again without any apparent cause we'll take the server offline for some upgrades.

Me too. I'd just clicked the Submit button in fact. Perhaps it was us who broke it?
And to think, my job is to make sure that various Disney computer things actually work correctly, not to break stuff!

Just an update on this....
after some investigations it appears the problem was caused by search engines, specifically Yahoo Slurp Search Spiders. Yahoo search was indexing our site too aggressively sending upwards of 100 search spiders all ow which were reading and indexing pages many times a second. This ultimately sent the server load through the roof.
We have now reconfigured the site to control the Yahoo index speed which should hopefully solve the problem.
Of course you have Stu:confused2
Really helpful errrr thanks:d:
