Ive booked directly through Loews today (Who put me through to Universal) one night beginning of october $254 + tax family of four in a standard room. Apparently the AA rate isn't valid because all of October is classed as Halloween rates during weekends :(

Does this seem a reasonable price?

Dont know about HRH but I got AAA rate at Royal Pacific Club level for October, we are staying Sat 13th pre cruise and again 25th and 26th Post Cruise, got AAA rate for both stays. I paid £160 for Club level, cant remember what the rate was in $, it was the same price for a room for 2 (my parents) as it was for 4 (2Ad 2Ch). They will regret that when they see how much my boys eat in a morning!!
Your rate sounds reasonable though for rack rate.

Sounds a very good deal, we paid more than that for just 2 of us years ago!! Best quote we got for this year(April) was $360 for a king room, so we're booked just for 2 nights then moving to Rosen Plaza until we move up to St Augustines.

These are the normal rates for the standard rooms.

I would recommend upgrading to a Club Room. If only for one night, then try to get to the hotel early (8am), check-in, then go to club room for breakfast and then use FOLP in the parks - you will easily get on all rides at IOA or US by late afternoon. Then go back to HRH for "happy hour" i(5.30 to 7.30pm) in the Club Room (comp drinks and great snacks). Then enjoy the great pool and possibly return to Club Room at 9.30pm for cookies, ice cream & milk. Our DS's are then all set for a walk around CityWalk. Next morning breakfast in the Club room, check-out and then enjoy FOLP at the parks. THEN YOU CAN STILL RETURN TO THE HRH & CLUB ROOM IN THE EVENING, even though you have checked-out!
