I want to pay for a "preferred" location at POFQ. Which are the best parts to stay in and why? Many thanks!!

I don't know anything about where to stay in POFQ Zoe but we couldn't book a preferred room with Virgin only a water view.

Really Caron? As you know, I'm going to be using Virgin (but through an agent) and it's probable they have an allocation of standard rooms and I'm unable to get a preferred location. Is there likely to be any way around this? I could phone them up and ask, not booked yet! LOL

There aren't any preferred rooms at POFQ, just water view for a few dollars more. We have stayed twice and just went for standard, not sure it is worth it for a water view.

This was the view from the walkway outside our room this last time.

The square in front of our building(5). Our room was up at the top right on the picture.

The pool was on the other side of our building.

Zoe, POFQ is a lovely compact resort so really no room is too far from the main facilities. I liked building 5 - it was literally a few steps to the food court, perfect for getting that morning coffee (I'm not sure if the rooms have coffee machines now?).

I've just been told there is no extra charge for any particular room. I read a post somewhere else who had a room in building 4 and thought that was perfect. Maybe I should just ask for a room in 4 or 5 and see what happens!!

We stayed in building 3, on the parking lot side you could see the Epcot fireworks and we faced a little pond. POFQ is such a compact resort, wherever you are will be close to all the facilities.

Just back from Port Orleans F Q, stayed in block 7, nice and quiet.
stayed in quite a few properties on WDW and this really is one of the best.
smaller and friendlier.

Did you look at other ways of pricing this?

We (DW & DD2) are going to POFQ in late April but only booked last week. The cheapest way I could find (but still more than I would have like to pay!) was to book flights direct with Virgin, and then to book the hotel through the UK web page of WDW.
There was a problem at first with the UK pricing - we did want to book a water view room and it should be hardly any dearer, but the UK site added about £700 to the cost. However a quick call (even though you call a UK number, they still connect you to WDW Florida) sorted it out.
The rate through the UK page was as cheap as the AAA rate in the US, although the cancellation terms are a lot better on the US site.

Expedia came up with a similar price for the flight & hotel combined, but I've had a bad experience with Expedia in the past. Virgin themselves were not showing any availability of FQ (they had Riverside, though).

Zoe, if my memory serves me correctly I am sure we stayed in Building 5, that was great.
I don't think I would pay the extra $$'s for a water view.

I paid the extra for the water view for our October stay, and it was well worth it. We were right overlooking the pool, in fact we could see our hotel room door from our lounger by the pool, which made it great for the kids to be able to go to the room if they needed anything and I could keep an eye on them going in and out of the room. Sorry can't remember which building we were in, I can check it tomorrow for you, as I am going to watch Big Brother now - sorry I'm addicted!

Just to confirm what has been said here, POFQ and POR do not have "preferred" rooms by that name, they have "water view" rooms at an extra charge - which could overlook the river or a swimming pool.

We always pay for water view - perhaps not specifically because we love seeing water (although the view over the river is lovely, especially in the evening with the boats heading up and down from DTD) but because we'd prefer not to have a view out over the parking lot.

We stayed in building 5, we had a lovely view of the river and it was just round the corner from the pool. we also paid the extra as we didn't want to look out over the parking lot, it was beautiful.

Here's a photo taken from outside our room
