:wavey: Anyone know what's happening at these two places?? When we went last in Oct 2005, they were renovating PO, and the big 'doll' wasn't there, and hardly any shops were open. The Mercado was like a ghost town too - just one or two shops open.

Hi, there last Oct...and PO is getting a huge makeover..with a lot more resturants there as well as a few shops ..was still ongoing with the work...but it will be a lot better than it was.....going downhill for a longtime..we only use it for the pictures.

Thanks for that Kev. It's a shame, because the first time we went, in 2000, both of them were quite good, so it was a shock when we went in 2005.

Hi, like most things in Florida..they have their moments...but all are looking to improve or basically have ran their time..suppose it is good for us tourists to see new or improved things and places.....

was there in July. The mercado is slowly being emptied so they can knock it down and make a new hotel i think. Such a shame as when i used to go in the mid 90's it was such a thriving and atmospheric place to visit. Got very fond memories of it. In july we walked round there one evening to see how it was now. It was scary!!! About 3 shops and a dodgy looking comedy club. :(

The big doll was from FAO Schwartz which I believe shut down in 2003/4 or thereabouts. They sold all the big toys off at auction.
The Mercado is really rundown now, it's a shame.. I remember we had a nice Italian meal there in 2002 but in 2005 there was practically nothing there.

For me the problem with Point Orlando is that it has always been pay to park, unlike the other nearby shopping complex's
