Looking at hiring a villa at Liberty village. Never been in this area before we have always been in Davenport area around Hampton lakes so were wondering what it would be like here. I know there is a Walmart nearby but do you think it will be too far out or further than we are used to travelling. Only doing 3 days at Disney with 4 probably at Universal. Are there any roadworks etc ongoing in that area. Don't want to go and find ourselves stuck in traffic like we did a few years ago when the kids were little needing the toilet and having no way of getting to one!!!

We stayed at Indian Pointe a few years ago, and it was fine. Liberty Village, looking at the map , is down Poinciana Blvd and very easy to find.
It may be a bit further out from the parks than you are used to, but hey, you are on holiday, and it may mean just setting off 5 minutes earlier.
There are no roadworks in that area anymore. The 192 revamp was finished some time ago. The Walmart is literally 5 mins away, and is the big one on the 192.
Horseworld and Green Meadows Farm are nearby ,as is the Southport Park location for Boggy Creek Airboats. Medievel Times is just up the road too.
If you feel the need to bypass the 192, you can cross at the top of Poinciana Blvd and then turn left onto Osceola Pkwy. That will take you straight onto Disney property.
I wouldnt have any problem staying in that area again, in fact, I contacted a villa owner for our next trip who's villa was situated on Bass Rd which runs up the other side of the Walmart, unfortunately he was booked for the dates we wanted.
There are loads of restaurants all along the 192 heading East from the I-4, so if you did get stuck in traffic, then there is always somewhere to take your kids for a toilet.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Stuart that was a great help. Having never stayed in that area before I was a bit reluctant to commit as we have an option on another property back at Hampton Lakes area agian. Figured it might be nice to go somewhere else for a change. Villa we have chosen looks lovely it was just the not knowing the area that was putting me off. Last time we were up at Medieval times area I remembered lots of roadworks and didn't want to get back into the situation we were in a few years ago when leaving the parks we got stuck in traffic and the younger ones needed the toilet. It was a nightmare it really put a damper on the holiday.
None of out friends have ever stayed in that area like us they go to Davenport simply because having been once they kept going back to what they knew.
Really excited now. I never thought we would have a new countdown this year!!!

I understand what you mean by needing a change. We have generally stayed in the Davenport area [ 3 times on the CR54 and once on the US27].
But having stayed at Indian Pointe as well, I really dont mind which area of the two we stay in. We have stayed at the same villa for the last two trips and was ready to book again. But upon thinking, I realised it was too familiar and we really needed a change. I did provisionally book the villa on Bass Rd, but Suzie found out that if she has to resit any exams at Uni [she's a mature student] then they would be in August, which was our original time planned to go. Unfortunately the villa owner didnt have any dates for the July period we picked, so we are now staying at Orange Tree, which is about 2 miles north of the Walmart on the 27, the one near the 192 , not Haines City.
When we were in Florida April 2005 the roadworks were there on the 192 near to the Walmart, but last April they had been finished.
A tip. When needing to go to Walmart, as you head up Poinciana Blvd, as you head towards the junction with the 192. on the right is a road called Orean Brown Rd , I think Orean is spelled right, Anyway turn right onto this road and it will run you straight into the Walmart carpark via the entrance at the rear of Medieval Times.

Thanks Stuart. You are right about needing a change we have been in the same area since the kids came along. Pre kids days we did hotels but never liked the hotel thing with kids. Did it for a few days once. Had thought about the area you are going to but then this villa came up and it was hard to resist. Still haven't booked it I should really but last few times we have gone with friends and shared a larger villa. Thought they might have phoned by now to say they were coming too. They have until tonight then I am going to book.!!!
