AAA is the American Automobile Association. Members of The AA can get discount the same as AAA members. The Universal site has been changed and won't take the AAA code anymore however if you were to phone and ask for the rate for AAA they will tell you. However if you try www.bookit.com you will get the rate including the AAA discount. We booked Portofino Bay last year on a AAA rate and saved quite a bit of money on the seasonal rate. Well worth me spending £30 or less on joining the AA as we also got food and beverage as well as merchandise discount with Universal and IOA.

Last year we just said at the checkin desk and they added the discount there and then - never even asked to see our card.

Dave, call either Loews or the hotel you want on the Universal site both will quote you the same price,[use telediscount number for either 1p or 2p a min to USA] ask rates for when you want to go tell them your AAA, if not available yet still book room as you can apply rates later when they become available, and if they go down futher after you book you can apply new rates to your booking.
You do not upgrade for the discounts.
The AA card gets you discount on restaurants at Citywalk and in Parks ,just show your card when you order, also in the shops as well . have a map somewhere for Citywalk which tells you the restaurants, Bubba Gumps are not available as yet and one other will post map if i can find it.

Ok Dave, we are BT20.
Just a bit of info, the hotels get booked quite quick, as not all rooms are available on AAA, I personally would book the room, they take 1 nights deposit, but if you cancel 5 days out you get a full refund, if you where to change your mind.
Also if you visit regularly ,i would sign up for the Loews first card as the more stays you go you move up to the next level, i.e Blue Gold Platinum.
I am Gold at the minute so get free upgrade from Standard to water View, and if Suite available get it for an extra $35 a night, if you happened to be Platinum you would get upgraded from standard room to a suite for free, so if you go even once a year the benefits could work out quite good.
The FOTL spoils you ,we stayed here for a week last year prior to going to Disney, if i go to Disney again i would stay there first then do Universal last, hated Queuing at Disney after walking on to most rides at UO and IOA

HI Sueiqz I emailed Lowes hotels first to ask about AAA discount. A very nice man by the name of Roger Tenny emailed me back saying contact him with my reservation confirmation number, he sorted it out. I am a lowes member signed up with them first, don't know if that's how I got upgraded. Hope this helps.

How do you become a loews member?

Go to
www.loews.com
and sign up.
they do not usually give you an upgrade with your reservation if you are on Blue, only when you arrive and ask if any are available, you get it automatically with Gold and Platinum. although if it is a slow period for them have heard it being given with reservation when on Blue.
But like Dizzyliz says does no harm to ask, when booking, also when you sign up with Loews, be sure to edit what you would like for your welcome gift, plus you get a daily paper and free entry to the health suite
